Job Title: Service Technician

Reports To: Service Manager

Basic Function: The basic functions of this position include the servicing, repair, and pre-delivery inspection of all heavy equipment.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent, tech school, or factory tech training courses preferred

Experience: A minimum of three years of heavy equipment repair experience preferred

Skills: Basic mathematic skills, basic computer and English skills to document work on electronic repair orders, able to repair engines, fuel systems, hydraulics, electrical systems, and do heavy welding tasks. A valid Driver's License with a safe driving record required. A CDL License is plus.

Working Conditions: Repair Shop work area and some outdoor work while testing equipment. Must own and have full use of a full set of tools, as defined by the Service Manager and/or listed in the Employee Handbook

Physical Demands: Ability to pick up heavy objects (50-75 pounds) and work effective in the repair shop environment

Task and Duty Description

- Heavy equipment repairs and maintenance.

- Accurate and complete entry of repair parts needed on Repair Orders (RO's).

- Provides complete lists of parts needed on specific models to the Parts Manager. See the Service Manager if exact part numbers/description is not known.

- Repair and maintenance of FMI Equipment owned and rental equipment, as directed by the Service Manager.

- Pre-delivery inspection of new equipment, as directed by the Service Manager.

- Ensure that all work assigned is accompanied by an active RO.

- Ensure the all labor and parts used for each unit are accounted for on the RO for that unit.

- Responsible for maintaining a clean and orderly work area and work bench on a daily basis.

- Maintain a professional appearance with company uniforms provided, changing daily.

- Assist in unloading and loading customer equipment, as directed.

- Properly deliver all equipment with a demonstration of its safe and proper use.

- Ensure that all diagnostics on customer equipment is entered / charged out on a RO.

- Ensure that all Warranty repairs are entered on an RO and are submitted for payment to the Service Manager.

- Meet safety standards to ensure safe working environment.

- Able to diagnose and repair hydraulic leaks, cylinders, and pumps

- Check-in rental equipment and perform any repairs and/or maintenance, as directed by the Service Manager/Rental Coordinator

- Remove/change/install attachments on equipment, as directed by the Service Manager

- Inform supervisor immediately on incidents of damaged inventory or other company property.

- Able to work independently and efficiently on field service calls

- Able to diagnose and repair electrical systems, including ignition systems, and accessories

- Computer diagnostic skills, including the Plus1 and Diagmaster systems

- Welding and accessory fabrication skills, as directed

- Must be a team-player, willing to "pitch-in" where needed with serving customer's needs

- Follow all policies as outlined by the FMI Employee Handbook

- All other duties that may be assigned or requested by your supervisor
