Find your future with us.The Boeing Company is looking for a KC-46 Missions Systems Software Engineer (Associate or Experienced) to join our KC-46 Tanker Aerial Refueling and Mission Systems Avionics Software team located in Tukwila, WA . This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization, providing integrated hardware and software solutions that enable aerial refueling and mission systems capabilities for US Air Force and international KC-46 customers.A variety of software work is needed including real time control software, situational awareness software, communications software, and graphical user interface development including video overlays as well as iPad-like application development on operator displays.This position will include a variety of software development assignments, such as new capability development, delivered capability upgrades, defect correction, and proof-of-concept prototyping via Internal Research and Development (IR&D) activities.Position Responsibilities: Associate

Assists with the development, documentation and maintenance of architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems

Develops and maintains code and integrates software components into a fully functional software system

Assists with test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met

Supports software project management and software supplier management functions

Selects, tailors and deploys processes and tools; establishes metrics

Performs software research and trade studies

Troubleshoots software issues

Works under general supervision

Position Responsibilities: Experienced

Develops, documents and maintains architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems

Develops and maintains code and integrates software components into a fully functional software system

Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met

Performs software project management and software supplier management functions

Develops, selects, tailors and deploys software processes, tools and metrics

Executes and documents software research and development projects

Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations

Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards

Works under general direction

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree

2+ years of experience programming in C, C or Ada

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

2+ years of experience in hardware and software integration

2+ years of experience with C/C software for real time embedded systems

Experience with Windows and/or Linux development environments

Experience working within an Agile development team and tools such as JIRA, Git and Bitbucket

Experience with additional programming languages and frameworks. ADA knowledge preferred but not required

Knowledge or experience with DO-178B

Knowledge or experience with Real-time flight and controls algorithms

Knowledge or experience with Mission Systems domain areas such as ground stations, data links, data/sensor fusion, human-machine interfaces

Typical Education/Experience:Associate (Level 2)Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.Experienced (Level 3)Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 6 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+4 years' related work experience, 10 years' related work experience, etc.).Relocation:This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
