The R&D lab at Bardy Diagnostics is currently seeking a full-time regular-employee Sr. Electrical Engineer to join the Engineering team at our Bellevue headquarters. Contribute to new product development, and work with and learn from accomplished and interesting engineers with a strong history of successful cardiac monitoring product development.

The right person will have a strong curiosity about how things work, has a history of taking things apart, likes learning, and does embedded projects on their own. The main area of contribution will be PCB/PCBA design, but strong HW debugging skills will be an asset. Firmware experience, while not required, is a complementary skill for this role.

In addition to a great team, Bardy offers good pay, excellent benefits, flexible hours, and meaningful work that helps make the world a better place.

Responsibilities
  • Design and layout PCBs and PCBAs for ECG monitoring embedded systems, incorporating all requirements needed for a successful design, including low-power constraints. Cover deliverables for the entire product development lifecycle, including design and test documentation.
  • Determine layer stackup, perform component package selection, component placement, routing feasibility studies, and signal routing of digital, analog, RF and power conversion of printed circuit boards (PCB)
  • Library creation and maintenance
  • Create and release documentation for fabrication of PCBs
  • Collaborate with internal teams and PCB vendors to continually improve design rules, constraints and design for test and manufacture guidelines
  • Utilize PCB design tools, maintain and evaluate new tools, and train team members to use tools
  • Participate in system design reviews, hardware design reviews and code reviews
  • Work closely with firmware engineers in developing embedded systems
  • Lead board bringup efforts, working with firmware and other engineers.
  • Work with the Manufacturing Team to transfer embedded software systems to production.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment. Contribute to a collaborative environment.
  • Work with other engineers to improve operational strategies and development processes

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or other technical or science discipline
  • 4+ years demonstrated success in designing hardware for medical-device products and bringing them to market.
  • Proficient in component selection and integration for a complete embedded system (e.g. power electronics and conversion, analog circuits, sensors, memories)
  • Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout software (Altium Designer preferred)
  • Proficiency with common electrical engineering design and simulation software (e.g. LTSpice, PSPice)
  • Programming Languages: Familiarity with embedded C for baremetal environments.
  • Proficient in embedded systems debugging techniques; usage of software/hardware debuggers, emulators and protocols (e.g., JTAG, SWD)
  • Experience with MIL-STD, commercial and IPC standards and design
  • Experience monitoring industry-wide parts
  • Ability to visualize component placement and interconnectivity
  • Experience with scripting and automation
  • Experience in designing for test and manufacturing (DFT/DFM)
  • Experience with software configuration management tools/methods (e.g., Azure DevOps, Git, Subversion)
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills - a knack for thinking about how the parts of a system work together
  • Strong oral/written communication skills - ability to write and speak clearly about technical subject matter
  • Flexibility and responsiveness in a fast-paced, dynamic, small team environment
