The childcare director is responsible for setting the tone for the facility, managing the curriculum, overseeing physical facilities, hiring staff and managing the overall image of the center. The director will also ensure compliance with all local and federal laws governing child care, both regarding the physical environment and the staff and work with the St. Pauls Lutheran School Administrator, St. Pauls Lutheran School Board, and St. Pauls Lutheran Church Council to manage the financial affairs of the facility.

Director Roles and Responsibilities:

Maintain a Christian atmosphere and communicate the love of God to the enrolled children, their families and staff

Supervise childcare staff

Hire and train new staff members

Provide training and professional development opportunities for staff, as appropriate

Adhere to policies and ensure staff and parents recognition of policies

Develop religious and educational programs

Help staff resolve conflicts between children

Assist staff in communicating with parents

Meet with parents and staff as needed to discuss problems and/or progress

Foster a crossover between Childcare and St. Pauls Lutheran School.

Complete necessary shopping and errands for Childcare necessities (requires transportation).

Work with the School Board and Church Council to establish budgets and set fees for programs

Ensure facilities are maintained and cleaned

Work with the school office regarding accounts receivable and accounts payable for childcare business operations

Attend meetings as required. These include Staff Meetings, School Board Meetings, Special Congregation meetings, and Finance Team meetings, and Leadership Events.

Conduct yourself at all times with parents, students, staff members and congregation members in a manner consistent with the high quality of the entire St. Pauls Lutheran Church, School, & Childcare Ministry.

Director Education/ Experience Requirements:

The director shall be at least 21 years of age.

The director shall be knowledgeable in practice and teaching of Christian faith to children.

The director shall have documentation of at least one of the following upon date of hire as director or director designee:

A. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with at least 12 credit hours of child development or early childhood education or elementary education or a related field, and one year of experience in a licensed early learning center or comparable setting;

B. An associate of arts degree in child development or a closely related area, and one year of experience in a licensed early learning center, or comparable setting;

C. A national administrator credential and one-year experience in a licensed early learning center, or comparable setting, plus 6 credit hours in child care, child development or early childhood or 90 clock hours of training in child care, child development or early childhood;
