Catholic Charities Housing Services, a non-profit social service agency serving Central Washington is seeking an Exercise Leader who wants to make a difference in peoples lives.
The Exercise Leader will be responsible in delivering 1-hour exercise sessions to MEND (Mind, Exercise, Nutrition, Do It) participants over a 10-week period as well as summer sessions. The Exercise Leader will coach, engage, and connect with MEND children while maintain a positive disciplined environment.
Lead the MEND exercise sessions for participants (two 1-hour sessions per week) and summer sessions
Participate in two healthy growth check sessions, collects and records accurate data
Participates in the group reward sessions planned by the families
Leads post-program physical activity sessions (one 1-hour session per week)
If necessary, substitutes for Mind and Nutrition Leader to deliver sessions to families
Demonstrate commitment to providing a quality experience for MEND children and families
Demonstrated commitment to inclusiveness
Demonstrate an effective role modeling for children embarking on a healthy lifestyle
Education:
Possess a high school degree, GED certificate or agree to achieve GED during the term of service
Experience:
Working with children, group work with children, strongly preferred
Health promotion and exercise science, fitness, or related field
Experience working with overweight/obese populations
Special Skills:
Ability to demonstrate flexibility while maintaining a positive nonjudgmental attitude
Ability to demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and feedback
Group facilitation skills and experience, especially with youth and families, preferred
Ability to motivate and inspire children and groups
Bilingual (English Spanish preferred)
Licensure, Registration, Certification:
Valid Washington State driver's license and minimum required liability insurance
Current CPR/First Aid Certification
Criminal Background check clearance
