SUMMER INTERNSHIP POSITION SUMMARY

This position is for an Engineer and will report to the Majorsville facility engineer. Location will be Dallas, WV facility as well as Southpointe office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

As an intern you’ll work with engineering professionals and site managers and gain invaluable exposure to a range of engineering careers. You will gain knowledge in the following areas:

  • P&ID Walkdowns – Assist facility, process and mechanical engineer with P&ID field walkdowns, identify gaps and provide redline comments to P&IDs, work with equipment suppliers and OEMS to gather missing information, assist with generation of new P&IDs for equipment sub-systems.

  • Duties will include: Working with plant engineers to assist with P&ID field verification walkdowns, developing redlines, working with vendors, suppliers and OEMs to gather equipment information, working with facility engineer and planner / scheduler to identify missing or incomplete equipment tag numbers and assist with assigning tag numbers through the MOC process.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Term of education: Sophomore +

  • Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in: Mechanical/Chemical/Petroleum Engineering

  • Eligibility to work in the U.S.

  • Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Proven problem-solving abilities

  • Critical-thinking skills

  • Coursework in Manufacturing Processes, Fluid Flow, Thermodynamics

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical Demands

This position requires sitting throughout most of the day. It will involve some lifting and filing.

On occasion there will be outside office assignments that can involve walking around construction sites, industrial locations, field and/or wooded areas.

Working Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often exposed to outside weather conditions, which could range from extreme cold to hot, humid conditions. Walking on uneven terrain is often required during normal work duties. Duties may require visiting and walking around some construction and industrial sites, farm properties, driving on rural roads, and other field locations, to acquire familiarity with facilities, properties and settings. High noise areas may be encountered. At all times proper PPE must be used in work areas.

Materials and Equipment Used

The materials and equipment used on a regular basis will be a personal computer, phone, fax, copier and map printer/plotter.
