POSITION SUMMARY

Ensure safe and dependable lift transport equipment for guests and employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES (list in order of importance)

This position is responsible for the following “job results”.

  • Performing all prescribed maintenance on all lift equipment.
  • Following ANSI B-77 codes, manufacturers requirements, federal and state requirements, and Insurance requirements
  • Completing all required maintenance logs and records
  • Performing daily pre- operational tests and inspections on all lift equipment
  • Monitoring and testing equipment regularly
  • Performing daily inspections of lift equipment. Directing accurate daily checks of all machinery, engines, motors, coupling/uncoupling points and other critical areas
  • Offering continual training and assistance of the standard operational and safety practices to the lift attendants, lead lift operators, scanners and tubing attendants on all lifts.
  • Referring to equipment technical manuals to ensure proper procedures are followed and proper settings are maintained
  • Notifying Manager of any condition or occurrence that may adversely affect the safety operation or the quality of the experience of our guests
  • Observing lift operations to ensure they are safely loading and unloading guests on the lifts.
  • Making suggestions to the operations supervisors lift manager or instructs the lift attendants directly when abnormalities are noted
  • Presenting in a friendly and courteous manner at all times and provide efficient, timely service to guests and other staff
  • Assisting and instructing guests on and off of the lifts or in the use of tubing facility
  • Answering questions or concerns of guests
  • Assisting other departments in their daily routines requiring use of the lifts
  • Dismantling of machine or equipment to examine parts for defect or to remove defective parts
  • Replacing defective parts with new parts or repairs or reproduces parts from various kinds of metal stock
  • Assembling and testing machine to verify correction of malfunction
  • Attending educational workshops, reading technical publications, reading current code changes and communicating with Peers at other resorts and our sister Alterra Resorts.
  • Reading mountain operations manuals, employee handbooks, and lift manufactures manuals
  • Checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies.
  • Informing manager of needed parts and materials need to maintain equipment.
  • Informs manager in a timely manner when inventories are being depleted.
  • Following all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Following all manufactures safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring that all maintenance information on all equipment and systems is recorded in compliance with ANSI-B77 codes.
  • Assist Lift Maintenance Electrician with process and procedures
  • Contributes To Team Effort by accomplishing related results as needed

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Attendance of accredited lift school

Experience: 2 years as a lift mechanic

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Any Alterra employee or volunteer who operates a company vehicle including cars, trucks, snowcats, snowmobiles, or heavy equipment is required to comply with the Intrawest Driver’s Standards Policy. This policy also applies to employees or volunteers driving their personal vehicles for company business more than four times per month, averaging 30+ miles per trip. All drivers should receive a full copy of the Intrawest Driver’s Standards Policy; if you have not – please contact your Risk/Safety or HR/EE Department.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

This position may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

Mountain Environment:

  • The primary physical environment in which this position works is out of doors with a high exposure level to cold,snow, wind, rain, bugs, sun, high altitude, extreme heights, lightning, etc
  • The degree of strenuous activity within the job is considered to be high. Often lifting a weight of 50 pounds throughout the day is common.
  • Additional strenuous physical activity may include walking or hiking upon uneven, challenging terrain with heavy tools or equipment.
  • Exposure to: Chemicals required for cleaning, de-greasing, andpainting Ultra Violet radiation from the sun enhanced through lack of atmospheric filtration at work altitude. Fumes produced in activities ranging from cleaning to painting to fabrication of metal products. Noise generated by snowmobiles, lift equipment, and tools may require hearing protection to be worn.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
