Startup Mushroom Farm Seeks Apprentice & Carpenter (Moorefield)

West Virginia, Eastern panhandle 00000 Eastern panhandle USA

Vacancy expired!

Calling all Jacks of all trades!

I'm seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, clean, responsible, strong and energetic person to help get my new business(es) off the ground. If you'd like to support my work in any way please contact me.

I hope to find someone interested in helping me with all of my endeavors especially natural building, and Tiny House construction. Carpentry skills are a huge, huge plus and that is the single most important talent to bring to the table, besides a passion to work with Fungi. Most of the other work is very simple and is just very labor intensive.

Tasks and Projects include, but are not limited to:

Setting up a rain water catchment system using roof tops and tarps to route water into drums/barrels/IBC totes since there is no water source onsite.

Making airport filter jar lids.

Preparing substrates in different ways.

Monitoring pressure cookers, autoclaves, and other steam pasteurization units.

Packing substrate into bags and loading them into a pasteurization unit.

Inoculating bags in a still air box and very soon in front of a flowhood.

Labeling bags/jars.

A lot of moving of bags from the pasteurizing and inoculation stations to the incubation rooms and later into the fruiting environments.

Monitoring incubating spawn bags for mold and removing them if moldy.

Misting fruiting Mushroom blocks.

Harvesting and packaging Mushrooms.

Delivering Mushrooms to restaurants, grocery stores, and farmers markets and collecting payment to later deposit or turn in to me.

Managing vendor table at farmers markets.

(This is something I hope to avoid for a little while since I think it's easier to start with restaurant clients who can order online each week from the website I'll soon develop.)

But, if you have an aptitude for talking with people and would like to hang out in an interesting place and market our culinary Mushrooms that would be amazing and could really help our income, and make more money available to pay you with. I'd eventually like to sell other things too like Mushroom tinctures, artwork prints, baked goods, Cacao infused snacks, Mushroom chips, etc. I don't want to just sell Oysters and Shiitakes from a blank table, but rather have the cooolest most awesome table at the whole market :)

Sourcing Materials:

All of the materials that I need can be found for free or very cheap within a few hours of me. I need someone who can help with picking things up and unloading them here. I would compensate you in cash for gas used for pickups.

It'd be ideal if you have a large vehicle or a utility trailer you can tow.

Hauling Water - There are local sources to haul H20 from.

Until I get my solar panel system set up, charging battery banks at your place and bringing them over might be helpful, I'm unsure yet if that'll be necessary. I need help setting up my solar panel system on the roof of my Bus.

COMPENSATION:

I can not afford to pay anyone in cash at this time, but that can change very quickly.

I have a lot of knowledge to share with the right person in exchange for your time and labor. Very quickly we will start producing Mushroom spawn in bulk which I'll be able to give to you as further compensation.

Each bag is worth $20-25 wholesale and much more if you take the spawn and fruit it. You can take them home to incubate and care for. We'll discuss exact numbers later on.

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?

At minimum, you will learn some cool and valuable things about Mycology, Tiny House building, creating natural buildings with Hempcrete and other repurposed materials, and BioGeometry.

At most, you will earn a place as a full time subcontractor of Mushrooms Rhizing.

If interested, please email me a bit about yourself, your background, your intentions and goals. Include your approximate location, days and times available, and your vehicle type and condition. Include your driving record and if you're insured.

Please share this with anyone who may be interested. My ultimate goal is for all of us to prosper and help our communities. So if after a brief period you decide so start your own operation, that's totally cool, though I hope to find someone interested in continuuing employment. Being local is a plus.

ALLERGY WARNING: (I have 1 cat)

I can not work with anyone who smokes tobacco or 'vapes' because I'm very allergic to the scent, even if it's only barely lingering on your clothing. I'm also allergic to many chemicals and can not be around perfumes, conventional deodorants, etc.

I am not interested in working with or supporting anyone who engages in hard drugs, heavy alcohol drinking or consumptive shopping.

I prefer to work with someone who does not have a family to support, because once I am able to pay you, the compensation will be good for supporting one individual but not enough to sustain a family with.

I wish to work with someone who has plans for using the money they earn in constructive and positive ways.

ABOUT ME:

I've been studying Mushroom cultivation for Mycoremediation purposes for a few years now and am finally ready to put my knowledge into practice now that I own 5 acres of Agriculturally zoned land in Moorefield, WV, in a beautiful location atop a mountain.

Mycoremediating the Earth is my dream, but right now there's no money in it. Therefore, I need to grow culinary Mushrooms and sell them in the greater DC Metro area so I have money for my charitable humanitarian Mycoremediation efforts as well as other small, blue economy related business ventures such as building affordable housing.

I've attended workshops and classes taught by Tradd Cotter, Ja Schindler, Peter McCoy, William Padilla-Brown, Pat High, and many more superstar Mycologists. I've attended talks by Paul Stamets, Gary Lincoff, and other amazing pioneers.

I have been intimately involved with small business operation for most of my life. I started my first company (www.Doctor-Detail.com) at age 15 which took off at age 18 and has funded my life until recently.

The corporation Doctor Detail Inc. has been terminated but I've been considering resurrecting it under a new corporation if I find the right self empowered and motivated person to run the operation which I have detailed manuals for. I'm not motivated by money. I've lived in a van for most of the last 6 years and oscillated between being Home Free :) and Homelessit's all relative to desire. The world may be headed for a great economic depression, but cleaning companies may end up doing pretty well in a world fearful of invisible viruses. And people will always need to eat, and have a livable shelter.

My goal is to build an automated high production Mushroom farm and later have a small commercial kitchen in which to prepare healthy, organic foods for sale at markets. Perhaps eventually I'll start a food truck to prepare and sell Mushroom Tacos/Dosas, and other amazing gourmet high vibe foods.

I'd also like to consult local farmers or individuals who wish to grow Mushrooms. Also, installing King Stropharia garden beds for people would be another service offering.

"If you will it, it is no dream."

"Where there's a Will, there's a way."

Building a Tiny House on Wheels

I'm seeking a professional, talented carpenter for a short term gig who can help me with the design plan and the construction of the floor, walls, and roof of my house. It'll basically just be a wooden box bolted onto a trailer. There will be no plumbing or electrical wiring or interior walls. Just an open room with shelves, cabinets, and desks lining the sides.

This project must be done when the weather is clear as I don't have a covered work space, but I will have a dry place to store materials.

Installing the interior wool insulation, luxury vinyl plank flooring and wall paneling are all things that I can easily do later. Much of the work is simple and involves painting, screwing wood together, measuring and cutting wood at a work bench and moving materials around. The tricky part is the design and the framing of windows.

As soon as my Tiny House is built I plan to market it for sale. If I can earn enough of a profit on it, I'm considering starting a company to crank out a house per month, and later one per week, to help people who need simple and affordable housing.

I have a secret TEK for this Tiny House build that will make it super light weight, yet strong and durable, and is probably the cheapest plan in the land. It involves using Elastomeric rubberized silicone roof coating as the roof and siding, painted onto cotton/polyster sheets, which when dry forms a super strong, waterproof exterior.

I also need a simple outhouse built within the next 5 months.

I plan to create many agricultural storage buildings using Hempcrete, and other natural and repurposed materials over time.

OTHER GIGS:

I have a couple of moving gigs that I'm hiring for and would rather give the money to one person who is interested in this position.

-One gig is a 14 hour round trip drive to NC to haul a trailer and parts for a tiny house back here. You can probably camp there or in the beautiful forest nearby.

-The other is a 5 hour round trip drive to pick up a Bus I'm buying near DC asap to use as a greenhouse.
