If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position. Specialized experience: For the GS-06, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to theGS-05 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experiencefor this position includes:performing in a technical or administrative support role for a business or organization, utilizing computer systems in a general office environment.Examples of such experience could include: - providing "how to" assistance to customers regarding the procedures involved in a variety of multi-step processes, OR - collecting, analyzing, and reviewing information for special projects, OR - applying a standardized body of rules and procedures sufficient to perform a wide range of administrative support duties.For the GS-05, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to theGS-04 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experienceor General Experiencefor this position includes: performing in a technical, clerical, or administrative support role for a business or organization. Examples of such experience could include: - utilizing computer systems and tools to prepare and update documents and reports, OR - greeting clients and responding to inquiries in person, via email, or on the telephone, OR - reviewing files or documents for completeness and compliance with established guidelines. OR You may substitute education for experience as follows: four (4) years of education above the high school level. OR You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. The experience may have been gained in either the public or private sector. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:For the GS-06, you must have been at the GS-05 level for 52 weeks.For the GS-05: You may be advanced to the GS-05 position if you have held a position no lower than GS-03 in the preceding year under your latest non-temporary competitive appointment OR have held a position at GS-05 or higher under a non-temporary appointment at any time in the past.EducationAdditional Information
