Timmons Group is seeking a talented Civil Designer to join our dynamic Water/Wastewater Group in our Richmond, VA office. The qualified individual will perform civil site design tasks for a variety of water/wastewater infrastructure projects. The complexity and fast-paced nature of our client’s needs create a dynamic environment for our team members, fostering a culture of teamwork, diverse training opportunities, and a sense of ownership in the successful outcome of the project.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Use professional judgment to independently complete assigned engineering designs.Lead and execute civil site design tasks across diverse infrastructure projects.Collaborate closely with Project Managers and mentor junior engineers.Perform QA/QC reviews to ensure technical accuracy.Make impactful design decisions that align with client goals and project timelines.Identify and resolve technical, scheduling, or financial challenges.Support construction oversight and respond to contractor inquiries.Contribute to proposals, cost estimates, and client communications.Act as a technical expert on assigned projects and as Project Manager on smaller scope or specialty projects as assigned.Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:At least three years of design/engineering experience in municipal infrastructure is required.  Intermediate to advanced ability to use AutoCAD Civil 3D software is required.Ability to use other engineering automation tools (Revit, BIM 360) is preferred.Must possess strong technical verbal and technical writing skills and be able to read technical literature and engineering plans.Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills and be able to apply professional knowledge to the solution of both routine and non-routine tasks and engineering activities.Must demonstrate two-way communication to effectively work with internal staff.
