Job Description
The Carton Assembler Will:- Manually load cartons, partitions, carriers onto magazines of carton assembler, carrier erector, partition inserter and sees that these machines continue to operate and function as designed to do. Involves some button pushing.
- May manually fold and assemble carton, insert interior packing such as foam and top pads, liners, partitions, carriers into assembled outer carton on certain jobs or when equipment malfunctions.
- Turns off equipment in case of malfunction and notifies supervisor or maintenance.
- Unjams machines and conveyors by stopping and removing materials to keep the flow of cartons.
- Inspects and observes cartons, carriers, partitions, for obvious defects, checks fiber tears, notifies foreman of any defects found and record on the carton quality check sheet. Discards defective cartons to waste bin.
- Remove wraps, straps, tier sheets, cut bands on pallet load. Unload cartons, carriers, partitions from boxes or pallets. Mechanical lifts are available.
- Check and keeps semi-automatic glue machine operating and filled with glue. May occasionally tapes or hand glues carton bottoms.
- Performs carton salvaging. Dispenses cartons and materials onto pallets for baling.
- Performs carton handling duties such as tying, sorting, placing into chutes, stacking.
- May have to attend casepacker when necessary.
- Keeps work area clean and orderly by sweeping the floors and picking up materials and waste.
Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age.
- High School Graduate or GED.
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Must be able to work a rotating schedule, with weekend and holiday requirements
