Apex is seeking an IT Applications Engineer in the information technology department. This IT Applications Engineer will support the Plant's Inventory Management, Manufacturing, RF Logistical, Shipping, and interfaces to process automation systems. This is a base level support resource for the current IT group. This person will also handle new requirements, upgrades, and reporting for these systems. This IT Applications Engineer is being brought in to handle legacy support and transition of knowledge for current systems and documenting of requirements to allow for rewrite of these plant floor systems in new technology. This candidate should have diverse technical skills to support the new web projects, systems, and reporting environments. This position is located onsite in Weirton, WV. Job Duties: Application Support & Development:
- Provide 24 x 7 on-call support for existing Weirton Application systems: Inventory Management, Manufacturing systems, RF Logistical & Shipping, and interfaces to other Weirton process automation and operational systems.
- Knowledge of Manufacturing systems in the Steel production sector, Inventory Mgmt., Scheduling, Product Recording, Shipping, Inventory Logistics.
- Ability to support Windows environments with SQL Server and Oracle databases.
- Troubleshooting application problems, resolution, and root cause analysis. Also provide recommendations for enhancements or changes to correct or minimize support issues.
- Handle investigation of user request for modifications or new requirements providing project documentation and time estimates.
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to take requirements and modify or develop applications, support unit and user testing, implementation.
- Follow company guidelines for Change Management procedures utilizing designated software toolset, Create required documentation /evidence for enhancements or new applications systems with expertise and experience in the SDLC (System Development Life Cycle).
- Ability to collaborate with the business, other team members or vendor participating in meetings, analysis/research to develop project requirements, and technical support tasks.
- Develop reports or queries to provide data requirements for the plant and corporate users.
- Develop initial table structures for extending functionality of current systems or for new applications.
- Develop application flows, table structures for extending functionality of current systems or for new applications, support, etc. for enhancements or new applications.
- Support and development of online and batch applications.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools suite including Word, Excel, Vision, and PowerPoint
- Occasional travel required.
