Job Summary

The Rexnord Industrial Chain & Conveying seeks a dynamic and experienced Buyer/Planner II with a desire for a long-term career in Operations. The role is ideal for those who have some solid experience in a Planning or Scheduling role, excellent work ethic, a hands-on style, sharp analytical skills, and a desire to learn a lot within an industrial manufacturing environment.

Key Accountabilities

  • Strong skill set in Buy/Resell product categories required.Manage purchases, container fills, and consignment and stock programs with Low Cost Region (LCR) supply base. Demonstrated ability to manage in transit product flow for optimal inventory levels and OTD required.
  • Create and maintain a transparent and confirmed schedule of incoming container loads for LCR purchases.
  • Identify and execute inventory optimization initiatives and ensure appropriate levels and accuracy of inventory planning. This includes review and calculation of forecasts, safety stocks, Kanban quantities, order quantities, etc.
  • Collaborate across functions to improve communication and coordination of supply plan.
  • Expedite and defer goods as required with detail and a high sense of urgency.
  • Identify process gaps that may delay manufacturing or hinder delivery. Increase efficiency and support OTD and inventory initiatives.
  • Act as liaison between customer care, sales, production, engineering, and purchasing.
  • Own the monthly and quarterly shipments forecast. Responsible for timely reporting of KPI’s.
  • Lead projects, using project management skills and techniques to manage cross-functional teams to achieve the desired outcome of a detailed action plan.
  • Negotiate complex requests for products, equipment, supplies, and services from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Drive the supplier approval and management process by identifying and maintaining direct contact with suppliers.
  • Evaluate vendor quotations, utilizing appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques to ensure quality, price, delivery, and service across multiple global locations.
  • Drive innovation and a focus on continuous improvement within the supply chain organization.
  • Responsible for supplier relationship management. Works with suppliers to establish performance goals with respect to continuity of supply, continuous improvement of cost, quality, and delivery.Monitor supplier's performance to agreed upon service level and OTD objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Operations or Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years of Planning or Scheduling experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • PC skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Excel). Must have the ability to efficiently generate spreadsheet information and summarize data into readable reports.
  • Demonstrated experience in Purchasing and Planning transactions in SAP strongly desired.
  • APICS certification preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing experience in a high mix / low volume business desired.
  • Demonstrated MRP experience using an integrated ERP system.
  • Customer focused.
  • Analytical and system proficiency skills.
  • Strong communication skills, including verbal, written, and listening skills to affect positive outcomes.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills with proven ability to effectively interface with all levels of workers, from the shop floor to management.
  • Self-motivated with high energy ability to prioritize and multi-task using strong organizational, analytical and motivational skills along with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced, metrics-driven, performance-based environment with stretch goals.
