Inspector candidate is able to perform the most complex inspection activities for the 5 categories of inspection: 1) Roadway 2) Bridges 3) Drainage 4) Erosion & Control 5) Maintenance & Traffic. Works under limited supervision from higher level inspectors and engineers. May be the sole inspector on a small project. Work requires knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highway construction; knowledge of geometry and basic mathematics; ability to read, interpret and explain construction plans and drawings, contract provisions, and specifications; and communications ability. Demonstrated ability to instruct other employees in proper work methods.Job description:Performs complex and routine/standard inspections of construction to evaluate if appropriate materials and construction processes are used; and that construction conforms to plans, specifications, and special provisions. Uses higher grade of equipment and performs complex calculations to perform inspection. Works under limited supervision.Reviews drawings to prepare for the inspection. Understands the design of the construction that will be inspected.Plans the overall inspection and determines specific inspections to perform on small projects where the Inspector is the sole inspector.Prepares and reviews daily inspector reports for preparation of entries into project diaries and is able to properly document materials as well as other test reports for materials.Job Title:Transportation Inspector IIIGroup:CEICDM Smith Employment Type:RegularMinimum Qualifications:Education: Associates degree in a Construction related field. Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in construction field; demonstrated ability to manage assignments independently and to communicate effectively. Or High School Diploma or equivalent.
