Tractor Trailer Mechanic

Responsibilities
ÃÂÃê Understand and adhere to company safe work policies
ÃÂÃê Promote a safe work environment through use of PPE as required in Messer standards
ÃÂÃê Report any incident involving equipment damage, near miss, first aid or medical treatment to supervisor immediately
ÃÂÃê Report any unsafe conditions, environmental concerns and equipment problems to supervisor immediately
ÃÂÃê Issue and manage hazardous work permits as required for Messer and contractor personnel
ÃÂÃê Apply Lock Out Tag Out procedures according to Messer standard
ÃÂÃê Collaborate with Fleet Maintenance and follow EMOC procedure for any change to equipment and/or maintenance procedures
ÃÂÃê Meet on time SAP/Prometheus generated truck and trailer work orders at required intervals and complete all documentation
ÃÂÃê Perform corrective maintenance as identified through Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR)
ÃÂÃê Troubleshoot truck and trailer problems to identify real time maintenance solutions ensuring resources available to meet customer demands ÃÂÃê Perform and document product metering device calibration in accordance with Messer requirements
ÃÂÃê Maintain spare parts inventory through commercial agreements with national vendors and Messer national warehouse
ÃÂÃê Maintain open continuous line of communication with transport supervisor and drivers
ÃÂÃê Maintain orderly and clean work area (garage) and vehicle(s)
ÃÂÃê Participate in group safety meetings and talks
ÃÂÃê Participate in safety committee activities as required - emergency drills, etc.
ÃÂÃê Complete all training activities according to schedule and meet annual performance goals
ÃÂÃê Follow directions from lead shop mechanic, supervisors, and managers
Qualifications
Basic
ÃÂÃê High School diploma or GED
Preferred/Other
ÃÂÃê Commercial Driver's license preferred
ÃÂÃê Demonstrated Tractor/Trailer maintenance skills
ÃÂÃê Diagnose and properly repair mechanical, electrical and tire problems on tractors and trailers
ÃÂÃê High mechanical aptitude and ability to work with simple mechanic's hand tools
ÃÂÃê Basic understanding of electrical hazards and safety
ÃÂÃê Basic understanding of cryogenic pumps, vehicle electrical systems
ÃÂÃê Basic understanding of welding techniques
ÃÂÃê Computer knowledgeable (Work with computers to input information)
ÃÂÃê Understanding of high pressure and cold temperature cryogenic tanks and trailers
ÃÂÃê Able to work alone
ÃÂÃê Familiar with Messer systems (SAP/Prometheus, OBC/Volvo/Freightliner and International)
ÃÂÃê Able to navigate LiMSS to find relevant work instructions, forms and supporting documentation
ÃÂÃê Understanding of Messer's Engineering Management Of Change (EMOC) process
ÃÂÃê Comprehensive knowledge of HWP process, LOTO and energy isolation procedures
ÃÂÃê Self Starter
