Description:PRINCIPAL OBJECTIVE: Provide design and consulting services, advice, and assistance to client firms on mechanical and piping systems. Conduct engineering studies and analyses for new system designs and recommend solutions for existing system problems. Adapt new equipment and materials to process designs. Meet with client personnel to assist in defining project scope and preliminary planning and estimating for equipment and system designs. 2. Conduct engineering studies and analyses of major process equipment and systems, including economic evaluation of alternatives. 3. Develop and design operational or process revisions, modifications, and recommend equipment purchases to improve efficiency or performance. 4. Analyze and determine causes of and solutions to equipment and process problems. 5. Lead the design engineering including, equipment and piping specifications and sizing, purchasing, and other project functions such as field check-out and start-up. 6. Supervise development of construction drawings, specifications, cost estimates, project schedules, and related details for projects. 7. Lead in the preparation of construction documents such as project manuals and bid documents. Assist in obtaining bids for construction and act as liaison during construction. 8. Coordinate the work with other engineering disciplines where required for project continuity. 9. Participate and lead in client and project team meetings as required. 10. Assist in developing and maintaining standard equipment specifications. 11. Assist in the preparation of proposals and marketing materials. 12. Assist the Project Engineer and Project Manager in performing project administrative tasks as required. 13. Depending on the experience and specific project assignments, the Staff Engineer-Mechanical may be assigned the duties of a Project Engineer. 14. Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned. RELATIONSHIPS: This position reports to the Discipline Lead – Process/Mechanical. Working relationships will exist within all areas of the firm utilizing in-house talent on a project assignment basis.
