REL is a Green Bay area civil engineering, land surveying, and environmental firm seeking quality individuals to fill the following full-time position:

SUMMARY OF JOB – GIS / Engineering Technician Position

The position would employ an individual with GIS knowledge and background as a Civil Engineering Technician is desired. The role would provide support to REL’s GIS Department, assisting with the creation and maintenance of information management systems for municipal infrastructure and utility mapping, gathering of baselmap data, and producing mapping to support our engineering, environmental, and ecological divisions. The Engineering Technician role would center on CAD design/operation for street/site design, public utilities, storm water management and other related projects. An Associates Degree or higher is desired, and the candidate must have strong math skills, knowledge of ESRI data collection apps, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, AutoCAD-Civil 3D, and MS Office. A minimum of 2 years of related working experience is desired.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Create digital and hard copy maps for a wide variety of projects

Aid in preparing equipment for GPS data collection

Assist in data standards development and GIS data maintenance

Prepare GIS data exports for engineering and design

Prepare drawings and topographical and relief maps used in civil engineering projects, such as highways, bridges, pipelines, flood control projects, and water and sewerage control systems.

Draw maps, diagrams, and profiles, using cross-sections and surveys, to represent elevations, topographical contours, subsurface formations and structures.

o Explain drawings to production or construction teams and provide adjustments, as necessary.

Review rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data received from civil engineers to ensure that they conform to design concepts.

Develop plans and estimate costs for installation of systems, utilization of facilities, or construction of structures.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Geographical Information System (GIS) related experience (e.g. coursework, certification, training etc.) or work experience

Knowledge of Geographical Information System (GIS) and AutoCAD principles, methods and procedures.

Experience using ESRI Field Apps, ArcGIS Online, and AutoCAD Civil3D

Experience in ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro Mapping software.

Knowledge of construction techniques as they relate to the civil engineering profession.

Coursework in civil or structure engineering with an associate or bachelor’s degree desired.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Ability to communicate and interact well with clients, agencies, and other staff.

Ability to work effectively with short timeline projects

Stay updated on the latest technology and trends within GIS and AutoCAD

Ability to read and interpret maps, plans, construction drawings, specifications, work orders, and shop drawings.
