Project Description:
  • In-depth Linux background and network technology (e.g. configuring switches, routers, firewalls, etc.) are the two primary needs.
  • Containerization and familiarity with Windows servers would be better yet.
  • Absolute must, team player with a can-do, will-do attitude. Client has a great department and are looking for someone who will fit in with this type of culture.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • In coordination with the department, prepare and provide hands on execution/administration of:
  • Network and system design, development, maintenance and support plans to ensure the environment is functioning at an optimal state
  • Network Devices/technology (physical & virtual, primarily Cisco) such as Routers, Switches, Firewalls, VLANS and Cabling (Fiber, CAT 5/6, etc.) at multiple sites
  • Security and Antivirus
  • Windows and Linux Servers (physical and virtual)
  • VMWare
  • FTP, DNS, DHCP, SSL, SSH, VPN, HTTPS, Security Certificates, Encryption
  • LAN/WAN monitoring/alerts strategy across servers and the network, utilizing Datadog and other available tools
  • Strong Windows and Linux Server operating systems administration experience
  • Customer/client facing, provide outstanding care and service at all times
  • Mid to long term security strategy with IT Management
  • A business continuity plan, inclusive of quarterly disaster recovery testing with our colocation
  • Design, develop and promote adherence of new and existing standards/policies, to standardize on best practices for current & new product offerings
  • Lead, manage and/or act as a SME (Subject Matter Expert) for assigned projects
  • Provide senior point of escalation (Tier 3) for resolving complex technical issues
  • Monitor all interfaces between systems and devices, with the Operations Team
  • Prepare and maintain documentation
  • Train/cross-train and mentor other IT and non-IT team members to help support technology for the organization
  • Be part of an on-call support rotation

Knowledge/Skill/Preferred:
  • Networking: Switches, Routers, Wireless Access Points, Servers, Cables, Racks, Firewalls, LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, UDP, Latency, VoIP, QoS, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, NHRP, ATM, PPP, PPTP, MPLS, NAT, RADIUS
  • Windows and Linux Server operating systems
  • Cisco, VMware, Microsoft Defender ATP
  • Customer/client facing, provide outstanding care and service at all times
  • Security Best Practices - Firewall, Intrusion Detection System / Intrusion Prevention System, Encryption, End-Point/Server/E-mail Antivirus, Multi-factor Authentication, Spam Filtering, etc.
  • Experience working with an ITIL/ITSM Ticket/Help Desk system such as ServiceNow
  • Strong Multitasking capabilities and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with staff, co-workers, and management
  • Organized and detailed oriented
  • Containerization – Kubernetes in particular
  • Ability to relay technical information effectively to staff/customers
  • Prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines
  • MYSQL and SQL Server administration
  • PKI Certificate and Certificate Authority experience
  • Review monthly patch releases and schedule and release updates (WSUS)
  • Firewall Rules management experience (PFSense)
  • Reporting

Required Experience:
  • College degree or equivalent experience, preferably in Computer Science or MIS
  • 5 years of experience working in a similar role
  • Prior ERP or EDI experience (preferred, not required)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills while working with co-workers, users, customers, and management supporting hardware and software
