Job Description

The Senior Lab Technician is responsible for the mechanical and electrical testing of components and products for Rexnord Specialty Components. This role will primarily support the engineering team with design and development and at times will assist operations, quality and technical support.

  • Perform setup and troubleshooting tests and product performance for mechanical and electromechanical devices.
  • Perform industrial wiring for a test and test machine setup.
  • Keep detailed records for long-term analysis of testing and troubleshooting.
  • Develop control panels for testing including design, wiring, and PLC programming.
  • Document and communicate test results and conclusions to all levels of organization and external customers.
  • Manage multiple projects at the same time and stay on track for required dates. Request additional resources as needed.
  • Perform basic machining including the use of manual mills and lathes for test fixturing and engineering prototypes. Operation of rapid prototype and 3D printers.
  • Always promote a safe working environment by following 5S principles and established and required safety policies.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in a mechanical, electro-mechanical, automation, electronics or electrical field is preferred. High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 5 plus years of experience in mechanical or electro-mechanical troubleshooting and analysis to determine the root cause and/or failure.
  • Strong User of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel), CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCad), and Lab Data acquisition software (National Instruments, LabView)
  • Strength in electromechanical industrial field. Prefer electrical technician with mechanical aptitude. Able to work with AC and DC voltages.
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints and other technical mechanical drawings.
  • Able to carry and lift heavy tools, equipment, and components (up to 50 lbs).
  • Able to operate hand tools and stand for long periods of time
  • Test equipment design, construction, instrumentation and data acquisition experience desirable.
  • Design and test for reliability experience desirable.
