Project/Day to Day Work

Production support team is using mainframe, Cobol. Expanding into production support for some of the Java stuff. There's an ongoing project but once it's in production they have to start thinking about future support. Looking at microservices and applications that have been stood up and bringing them into his support team.

Interconnectivity - data coming from data mainframe getting pushed and pulled into midtier and distributed. Ultimately need people who understand mainframe and do Java. Doesn't need to code Cobol but can read and connect the dots.

The layer that this person is going to be working on, is supporting applications on the front end of mainframe. Standing up agnostic layer on top of the mainframe, all internal customers are coming to get data from these applications.

Migrating the application from Docker to Openshift, part of cost savings project.
