Our client is seeking a Data Warehouse Developer. The candidate will be responsible for assisting in ETL design, development, testing, maintenance, metadata, and implementation of data warehouse initiatives. Understand user requirements and implement solutions that ensure requirements can be achieved through high quality deliverables. Develop ETL mapping specifications for loading information into the data warehouse and for ensuring reliability of information loaded. Seek continuous improvement in performance & tuning of data warehouse and ensure security of data. Works with other IT technical teams and Business users to understand requirements and recommend & implement solutions. Closely supervised with some latitude for independent judgment. Typically requires up to three years of experience or equivalent education. Ideal candidate will have skills and experience in the following areas:

  • Moderate experience in data warehousing process design, development, performance & tuning using the Informatica data warehousing tool suite
  • Developing skills in the architecture of data warehouse and data integration strategies and solutions
  • Knowledge in data warehouse best practice standards
  • Knowledge in relational data base technologies: e.g. Oracle, DB2, SQL Server
  • Moderate skills working with relational and dimensional data models
  • Moderate skills working with slowly changing dimensions
  • Strong data management and data analysis using SQL
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including facilitation of meetings with customers and technical staff
  • Knowledge and skills in the project development life cycle process (i.e., planning, analysis, design, coding, testing, implementation, support)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in requirements gathering
  • Effective interpersonal relations skills, ability to effectively collaborate with others and work as part of a team
  • Skills in navigating a large organization in order to accomplish results
  • Ability to initiate and follow through on complex projects of both short and long term duration
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently, assume responsibility for job development and training, researching and resolving questions and problems, requesting supervisor input and keeping supervisor informedProficiency with MS Office suite, MS Visio, and MS Outlook
Location: Madison, WIContract: Potential 1 year

NOTE: Phone & Web Based interviews acceptable for interviews prior to final interview. An in person interview may be required before a final hire is made. In coordination with the “Safer At Home” guidelines, contracted staff will work with their manager to access work remotely as needed temporarily. However, contract staff will be required to return to the home office for regular business hours as restrictions allow

Skills Required: 3 years of experience in:
  • Excellent Organization, analytical, oral and written communication skills
  • Responding to customer requests (Verbally and in writing)
  • Technical Writing and Documentation
  • Developing and implementing quality assurance processes and procedures including test/use cases
  • Navigating and querying a relational database (Oracle) to both develop reports and to perform data validation using common tools including SQL/PLSQL
  • Data warehouse design and development
  • Requirements gathering for data warehouse
  • Data Warehouse - Performance tuning
  • Informatica – Experience in extract, transform, and load coding using informatica
  • Developing design specifications
  • Business Objects or other BI tools
  • Developing Test Plans, Test Cases, and Test Procedures
2 years of experience in:
  • Expertise in implementation of large and complicated models and process in extensive, multi-function education and government environments
  • Knowledge of Kimball data warehouse and business intelligence lifecycle methodology

Skills Desired – A plus to have:
  • At least 3 years of demonstrated experience in the design and utilization of performance measures and reports to manage inventory, analyze cost, and maximize return on investment of monetary and human resources
  • At least 3 years In-Depth Knowledge of System Development Life Cycle Deliverables for each Phase of Development
  • At least 3 years of Data analysis experience
  • At least 2 years of experience working with DB2
  • At least 2 years of experience working with Dashboarding/Business Objects Xcelsius
