NATURE OF WORK:

This position will be based in Madison, Wisconsin and provide process improvement and troubleshooting support to the sister DuPont Cedar Rapids site and with offsite toll manufacturers. Will also participate and/or lead numerous Nutrition & Health related projects with local and/or global scope. This is a leadership position with no direct reports, but development opportunity with potential as the business grows and the technical team expands.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

Support the design and implementation of Process Safety Management program at the site

Manages projects, prioritization with management guidance

Actively participates on N&H Division Plant Process engineer network

Sets expectations for technical assumptions, total quality, continuous improvement

Interfacing routinely with external toll manufacturing facilities (process improvement, quality tracking, root cause failure analyses)

Involved in new technologies, benchmarks, promotes/manages technology innovation system discussions

Leader in new product transfers and plant-to-plant transfers

Leads global projects to expand and grow Food Protection business

Plans and effectively organizes resources for local/global projects

Initiates project management and arranging rules/tools

Communicates internally and cross-functionally (expectations, performance, and results).

Leads problem identification and solving (Root Cause Failure Analysis)

Organizes training for Operations and facilitates hand-off for any new processes or technologies

Sets up performance management standards of goal setting, performance measurement, dialogue, coaching, counseling, personal development plans, recognition and reward

Influences organizational development standards of structure, shared vision and corporate culture

Monitors cost management through manufacturing cost improvements, variable cost tracking, measuring, reporting – using data to generate Continuous Improvement and Safety driven projects

Leads cost savings/capacity release and other business-driven process improvements

Acts in compliance with all company policies including, but not limited to: Quality, Safety, Food Safety, Environmental, GMPs, and HACCP

Responsible for adherence to all quality systems including, ISO 9001 and ISO 22000 Food Safety with an understanding of DuPont/Danisco Corporate Quality policies and procedures

Job Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

B.S. in Biochemical, Microbiology, or Chemical engineering or related bio-technical degree (advanced university degree preferred)

Experience in bio-tech, pharmaceuticals, or food and beverage preferred

Strong project management and communication skills highly valued due to travel/remote reporting structure

Fermentation knowledge/experience and validation (equipment, cleaning, process, etc.) a plus

Evaporation, centrifugation, Microfiltration and/or other separation technology experience a plus

Spray-drying experience a plus

Food/pharmaceutical plant design expertise (such as equipment selection, efficient layouts), process design expertise (equipment sizing, heat loads, etc.), and the ability to participate in, and lead, a design team

WORK CONDITIONS:

Ability to travel < 50% (based in Madison)

Limited handling of hazardous materials such as dusts, strong acids and strong bases

Respirator fit testing may be required
