The University of Wisconsin Extended Campus is currently seeking a Software Developer who will be responsible for analysis, design, development, and implementation of enterprise system integrations and development work. An ideal candidate will be a software developer who is capable of performing a wide range of software lifecycle tasks including design, coding, testing, documentation, troubleshooting, and user support. UW Extended Campus is an innovative, fast-paced environment in which the candidate will be called upon to learn new technologies in a supportive organizational culture focusing on service to students. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design and develop applications, configure existing applications, and develop integrations among new and existing internally developed and purchased applications
  • Communicate and collaborate with stakeholders, team members, and leadership in various settings including small groups, 1:1, and large group meetings
  • Perform the analysis needed to ensure necessary business functionality, data security, application design, and optimal performance requirements are satisfied
  • Create and execute testing plans for project and sprint work
  • Work with project teams to create estimates of work effort and/or time required to complete development of specific requirements
  • Prepare required software installation instructions and documentation
  • Manage migration of data and applications to new systems and platforms, verifying all data is migrated properly and applications are properly initialized prior to implementation
  • Creating complex reports, interfaces, enhancing applications and performing quality control of new applications / processes
  • Consult with clients, analyzing their operations to determine their information needs
  • Create and execute testing plans of internally developed code to support upgrades, migrations, or other changes to existing applications and infrastructure systems.
  • Evaluate the impact of new hardware, software packages, tools and protocols on the information management program
  • Adhere to, provide feedback on, and participate in continuous improvement of development standards, processes, and procedures.
  • Create and maintain documentation as appropriate for code, applications, and processes

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate’s degree
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in computer system development and modification
  • Knowledge of systems analysis, technical documentation techniques, monitoring tools/techniques, and reporting/analytics techniques.
  • Knowledge of design, development and implementation tools and techniques for integrating enterprise applications, including web services and other integration architectures.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years’ experience in computer system development and modification
  • Demonstrated knowledge or certification in development in the Salesforce and Force.com environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge or certification in development in the Oracle DBMS environment.
  • Extensive experience working in enterprise systems in the higher education environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill with Microsoft Visual Studio.
  • Experience with code repository such as Github
  • Experience with Agile processes

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and speech working with clients, team members and leadership.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to see the larger picture and recommend the steps to go from business need to solution.
  • Experience and solid understanding of database, design, and development software.
  • Experience and solid understanding of software design and programming principles
  • Experience and solid understanding in developing and executing test plans.
  • Experience and solid understanding in data integration tools and techniques
