Job Description

Position Summary

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position will manage all aspects of second shift operations, including but not limited to assembly, machining, fabricating, heat treating, processing, packaging, and inspection. Responsible for ensuring on time delivery, cost, and quality standards are achieved.

Responsibilities

  • Works collaboratively with other departments to assure that daily SQDC (safety, quality, delivery and cost) metrics are met.
  • Supervises the activities of production employees engaged in all facets of the manufacturing function including but not limited to assembly, machining, fabricating, heat treating, processing, packaging, or inspection.
  • Ensures physical and workforce resources are adequate to meet the organization's production schedule.
  • Manages production activities including workflow, assembly methods, and work force utilization.
  • Use root cause analysis, ‘5 why’ process, and Standard Work to eliminate waste.Champion use of Lean tools through involvement in kaizens and other process improvement activities.
  • Implements and supervises cross training efforts.
  • Manages production and overtime schedules. Manages direct reports’ attendance and payroll.
  • Evaluates employee performance, recommends areas for improvement, and makes decisions involving employment, salaries, and discipline.
  • Creates and sustains a safe work environment.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

Experience and Skill Required

  • Must be technically proficient to troubleshoot manufacturing upsets.
  • A strong commitment to quality, cost, and on-time delivery is required.
  • A bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or related field is strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of least 5 years of experience in Manufacturing at a leadership level is required.
  • Lean experience and/or certification strongly preferred.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Proficiency with SAP preferred
