- Under the direction of the Director, IT Strategy & Planning, is responsible for the analysis, design, and implementation of administrative and academic information systems.
- Acts as project leader on business technology projects and coordinates the efforts of a team of technology workers and other resources to most effectively achieve the District's Information Technology (IT) goals and objectives.
- Work is generally diversified requiring judgment, analytical skills, and decision-making abilities according to established practices and procedures.
- Daily activities are completed independently or as part of a project team employing established policies and general objectives; interaction with supervisor is normally limited to problems or unusual conditions.
- Manages large- and medium-sized projects. Responsible for the entire project lifecycle, including initiation, launch, planning, execution, and close-out.
- Consults with user clients in assigned administrative or academic areas regarding information needs, functional and non-functional requirements, existing system problems, Develop work estimates, work breakdown structures and the project schedule
- Proactively manage risk, anticipate possible issues, implement appropriate mitigations, and remove obstacles to progress
- Monitor and review team outputs for multiple teams. Hold team members accountable to commitments.
- Manage project documentation and changes in project scope, schedule, budget, and personnel. Make recommendations on solutions to leadership. Ensure project objectives are set and roles of team members are clear.
- Communicate project status and progress regularly to sponsor(s) and stakeholders
- Confers with other division staff. Confers with supervisor regarding problems or unusual events; keeps supervisor informed of the status of assigned projects and activities.
- Participates in in-service training, workshops, and other educational activities as required or assigned.
- Performs other related duties as required for the efficient operations of the division.
- Required Education: Bachelors’ Degree in Information Technology or Business field.
- Preferred Education: Master’s Degree in Information Technology or Business field.
- Required Experience: 5+ years related experience, including at least 2 years of project/program management or managerial experience with implementation of large scale, cross-functional projects in a technology environment.
- Preferred Experience: Prior experience in Higher Education in an administrative- or technology-based role.
- 5+ years related experience, including at least 2 years of project/program management or managerial experience with implementation of large scale, cross-functional projects in a technology environment
- Solid understanding of how systems integrate, and how to move data between systems.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines, priorities, and tasks
- Ability to establish and main effective working relationships with the client’s community and general public.
- Demonstrated experience and accomplishments in planning, directing and implementing complex projects on time, within budget and with desired objectives.
- Knowledge of trends, issues, and accepted practices relevant to the position.
- Strong customer service skills and highly organization skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including with Executive and Senior Management audiences
- Ability to effectively communicate, negotiate with and influence a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
- Ability to work in teams. Collaboration is essential to the outcome of all areas
