Business Unit Controller

Job Description

As the Business Unit Controlleryou willhave the opportunity to help Master Lock achieve its strategic goal of becoming a billion-dollar company. This role will lead the corporate accounting function while maintaining strict compliance with FBHS accounting policies, Sarbanes Oxley controls, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

• Prepare monthly financial statements and various detailed analyses.
• Assume responsibility for overall balance sheet control including review of account reconciliations and the maintenance of appropriate controls.
• Responsible for directing and coordinating the work of several accounting associates in all aspects of accounting including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
• Maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with all necessary accounting rules and policies
• Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external auditors. The target is to achieve few if any, deficiencies noted with no material deficiencies. Follow up on all audit reports with a timely compliance resolution (based on agreed-upon resolution time).
• Research and document various accounting issues and implement proper accounting methods in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (including new pronouncements) and the FBHS accounting manual.
• Active participant in the budget roll-up processes focused on headcount and various SG&A categories.
• Provide various parts of the organization with variance reporting vs. plan, prior year, and forecast. Examples include S&A reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
• Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible relevant work experience with increasing responsibility, including leadership experience.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft products and other analytical systems/ tools

• MBA/CPA a plus
• Strong business acumen and business partnering skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team and process-based environment, driving for continuous improvement
• Outstanding communication and relationship building skills
