Position Summary

Reporting to Assistant Director of Admissions, the Communications Coordinator serves as a key member of the recruitment and enrollment team. This individual is responsible for planning and implementing communication strategies to support the university’s undergraduate recruitment and enrollment goals. The Communications Coordinator is expected to develop compelling messages across multiple channels (print, digital, text, social media). Excellent writing and copy-editing skills are required to ensure the delivery of communications that are consistent with brand standards.

Responsibilities

    Communications Management (75%)
  • Assist in the development of a comprehensive communications strategy that helps the team achieve undergraduate recruitment and enrollment goals, working closely with the Assistant Director of Admissions to maximize efforts.
  • Serve as the brand ambassador in the Admissions Office, ensuring that all messages and themes communicated by the team meet brand standards.
  • Develop and execute all undergraduate recruitment communications including writing and editing copy, managing media resources, coordinating the production timeline, and working with campus partners to obtain content.

  • Serve as the primary web author for the undergraduate Admissions website; develop and maintain compelling content, maximize navigation and usability, and ensure pages meet brand standards.
  • Build communications in the Customer Relationship Management system (CRM) and work closely with team leaders to ensure effective delivery.
  • Manage publication inventory to ensure we have adequate materials for recruitment and outreach activities.

  • Coordinate the development and production of any branded materials to be used at recruitment events (college fairs, Falcon Preview Days, and other related events).
  • Manage the Admissions social media accounts, ensuring content is aligned with the communications and recruitment plan.
  • Manage and understand data to develop more informed communication and outreach strategies; analyze ROI of communication efforts to better allocate resources; work to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of all communication efforts.
  • Play a key role in supporting student search strategies; advise decisions on name buys and vendor selection.

    Recruitment and Enrollment Activities (25%)

  • Serve as an active member of the Admissions recruitment team; working collaboratively to recruit and enroll a highly qualified, diverse group of new students.
  • Positively represent UWRF to a wide variety of constituents, including prospective students and their families, secondary and postsecondary school personnel, community-based organizations, and other individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process.
  • Occasionally serve as Counselor of the Day for on-campus visitors.

  • Work closely with members of the Admissions team to create a supportive, inclusive, and collaborative team environment where communication, trust, and accountability are valued.

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the admissions field, recruitment processes, and enrollment management strategies.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to admissions and enrollment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

    Qualifications (Required):
  • Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Intermediate/advanced skills using Microsoft Office Suite and web-based technologies, as well as a willingness to learn/adapt to changing recruitment technologies
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with experience crafting compelling messages for a variety of audiences
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to positively represent the university, interact effectively with others, and maintain effective working relationships with campus partners
  • Excellent project and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Accuracy, attention to detail, follow-through, and reliability are extremely important in this position
  • Commitment to developing an inclusive, highly collaborative work environment
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to adapt and learn new technology
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite

    Qualifications (Preferred):

  • Earned Master’s Degree
  • Experience in a recruitment, advising, or student-services environment
  • Knowledge of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools
