Job Opportunity:

BHSI is seeking an experienced and talented Compliance Analyst to join our State Affairs team in Stevens Point, WI. The State Affairs team supports BHSI’s admitted platform through support of development, submission, negotiation and approval of rate, rule and form filings commensurate with business objective and in compliance with regulatory requirements. This position will provide support to business units on filing-related inquires and coordinate interaction with business unit representatives, Legal, State Affairs and other areas to ensure appropriate individuals are involved during the course of a filing. We are looking for an individual who has a high level of accountability, sense of urgency, attention to detail and excellence of character. Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Routine monitoring of current marketplace to maintain industry knowledge related to products, competitor intelligence, case law, jurisdictional/regulatory conditions and emerging issues.

  • Review and analyze state insurance department statutes, regulations, bulletins, etc. to determine filing and regulatory requirements. Stay current on changes and developments that impact insurance design and development, in addition to filing requirements. Work with Legal counterparts to interpret state insurance statutes, regulations, etc. to provide guidance and direction to business units.

  • Perform research and develop position papers, support letters, and various documentation regarding regulatory changes and new legislation.

  • Collaborate with Underwriting Business Units to develop an understanding of enhancements and revisions to their admitted products as well as support the filing objection response creation to garner approval countrywide.

  • Support research, development and submission of state regulatory filings. Facilitate response to regulatory information requests to ensure consistency, accuracy and timeliness.

  • Manage and update tracking tools and communicate project milestones, status and any challenges to key stakeholders.

  • Develop and maintain personal contacts with state insurance department staff.

  • Perform other related duties, including short- or long-term departmental projects.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or comparable, progressive experience

  • Advanced multi-tasking and prioritization skills to manage rapidly shifting projects effectively in a deadline-oriented environment

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to proactively work in a team environment as well as independently

  • Prior experience submitting state filings and working with SERFF and IRFS desired

  • Project Management experience

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Working knowledge of Property and Casualty lines of business is a plus

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office Skills
