Job Description

The Field Services Technician provides technical support to the field labs with equipment repair and maintenance to minimize downtime during normal operations.Installs and repairs OD equipment in house and in the field.

What Would You Do?

  • Provides customer support to stores to help troubleshoot OD and lab equipment issues.
  • Travels to field labs to install equipment or troubleshoot existing issues.
  • Trains associates, and identifies, analyzes, and repairs product failures, orders and replaces parts as necessary.
  • Decides the most cost effective way to repair OD equipment in the stores (over the phone, swap out, or onsite).
  • Assists with creating new store floor plans for the installation of new OD equipment in stores. Tests new equipment to make sure it is compatible with other OD equipment before field installations.
  • Works with vendors and OD manufacturers to determine the correct way to install new equipment.
  • Assists in creating new store models in order to improve the use and efficiency of OD equipment.
  • Creates procedures and check lists for OD equipment set up, repairs and maintenance.
  • Upgrades store OD equipment in timely manner in order to minimize downtime.
  • Runs low volt data lines in stores that are upgrading to automated OD equipment.
  • Organizes the transfer of OD/Lab equipment between stores as needed.

Qualifications

  • Travel 75% of the time.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, trade school or Associate’s degree preferred.
  • 2 to 5+ years working experience in a technical or mechanical trade.
  • Advanced Mechanical knowledge and application.
  • Proficient knowledge of computer operations and applications.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Electronic training or Electrician License is preferred.
  • Knowledge of optical equipment is a plus.
  • Forklift license preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record that complies with National Vision’s Motor Vehicle Policy.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
