Generac Power Systems – Work with the leader in the power industry! Our corporate headquarters in Waukesha, WI has a new opportunity available for a Public Relations Manager .

This position is responsible for leading and managing public relations for our corporate, residential, commercial, industrial, mobile products and clean energy segments. This highly cross-functional position will also be responsible for building and nurturing strong media relations, increasing awareness for our products and services and building a positive image for the company by utilizing multiple formats and platforms.

Develop and maintain the company's corporate image and identity, acting as the company spokesperson on a wide range of corporate and marketing topics including crisis communications

Manage special events such as sponsorships, award submissions, media events introducing new products, or other activities as needed

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with local and national media representatives, publishers and editors

Designs and directs the work of the team; selects, coaches and develops staff; sets clear expectations to inspire and motivate the team; manages performance recognizing achievement, providing feedback and administering progressive discipline when necessary

Assign, supervise and review the activities of outside public relations agencies

Facilitate consumer relations, handling public or customer inquiries and coordinating responses from other internal departments

Write interesting and effective press releases, prepare information for media kits, collaborate with team members on yearly content calendar and assist with the creation of content for internal stakeholders

Identify key client groups and audiences and determine and create engaging communication and leverage effective distribution tactics and vehicles

Draft speeches for company executives, and arrange interviews and other forms of contact for them

Evaluate advertising and promotion programs for compatibility with public relations efforts

Collaborate with HR managers and internal communications specialists to develop employee communications

Work with finance and investor relations managers to distribute earnings, acquisitions and other corporate announcements Oversight of reporting platforms and communicating key metrics

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, related degree or equivalent experience

5 years marketing experience with progressive growth in roles to include driving the creation and execution of B2B and B2C PR strategies for a large organization and experience managing media relations and serving as a Corporate spokesperson in both broadcast and print media interviews

2 years of previous supervisory experience

Valid driver license and ability to travel overnight up to 20%

Preferred Qualifications:

Master Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, related degree or equivalent experience

Prior experience designing and executing successful public relations campaigns at both a local and national level

Previous experience evaluating and managing Corporate Sponsorships

Previous experience in durable goods, home improvement, building or electrical product markets

Previous experience with a global brand

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting; close vision and ability to adjust focus. Up to 20% travel and valid Driver’s License required.
