    This position is located in the Casper Field Office which manages approximately 1.4 million acres of BLM-administered surface land and 4.7 million acres of mineral estate within Natrona, Converse, Platte and Goshen Counties.     Responsibilities

    If selected at the full performance GS-07 level, you would be responsible for the initial and final review, processing and public posting of minerals related applications and documents. Verify that applications for Permit to Drill, oil and gas Sundry Notices, Designation Agents, bonds, etc. are in compliance with applicable regulations. Make contact with the public when applications are received and if additional information is needed. Answer inquires regarding status of applications. Responsible for bonding and bond review for oil and gas operators. Review sundries for plugging and abandonment.

    At the GS-5 or -6 levels: you will be assigned work at a developmental/trainee level. You will peform less difficult tasks with independance but with closer guidance. The supervisor will spot check the work in progress and will review completed assignments for accuracy and compliance.

    Physical Demands: The work is sedentary in nature and may involve pressures associated with meeting deadlines and shifts in priority and workload.

    Work Environment: Work is performed in a typical office setting.

    Qualifications

    In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement - please be sure to include this information in your resume. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade of the position to be filled. Examples:

    To qualify at the GS-05 level, applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level in Federal service; OR Have successfully completed a Bachelor's degree or coursework equivalent to a degree in any field; OR Have an equivalent combination of specialized experience and education. Specialized Experience for the GS-05 level is experience that includes at least 2 of the following 4 items: 1.) review legal documents for completeness; 2.) perform legal research; 3.) detect errors and inconsistencies in various documents; 4.) other directly related experience.

    To qualify at the GS-06 level, applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in Federal service; OR Have successfully completed at least 18 semester hours of Graduate level education directly related to the work of a legal instruments examiner; OR Have an equivalent combination of specialized experience and education. Specialized Experience for the GS-06 level is experience that includes at least 3 of the following 5 items: 1) the examination of legal documents to determine whether a requested action complies with certain provisions of law; 2) research, analyze and interpret laws, regulations, etc.; 3) perform legal research; 4) detect errors and inconsistencies in various documents; and 5) other directly related experience. The work requires the application of particular regulatory and procedural knowledge that is based on these laws.

    To qualify at the GS-07 level, applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level in Federal service; OR Have successfully completed at least 18 semester hours of Graduate level education directly related to the work of a legal instruments examiner; OR Have an equivalent combination of specialized experience and education. Specialized experience for the GS-07 level is experience that includes at least 4 of the following 6 items: 1) the examination of legal documents to determine whether a requested action complies with certain provisions of laws; 2) read and interpret Master Title Plats, Historical Indices and Miscellaneous Documents Index; 3) reading, writing and comprehending complex legal land descriptions; 4) experience verifying permits or contracts for mineral material sales; 5) preparing bonding or supplemental bonding requirements; and 6) other directly related experience. The work requires the application of particular regulatory and procedural knowledge that is based on these laws.
