Position Summary :

Purpose of the position

The Insights, Invention, & Innovation Content Architect will work as a part of the Insights, Invention, and Innovation team to understand, experiment, and invent new learning experiences in the K-12 virtual learning space. This includes taking OBL authored & owned content (learning objects) and experimenting with a variety of different educational capabilities, applications, and technologies and using the results to inform the product roadmap and strategic decision making.

Core tasks and responsibilities

  • Engages with the Manager of III, Product Leaders, architects and engineers to execute the innovation & invention activities to achieve expressed innovation objectives.
  • Performs duties which include taking OBL authored & fully owned learning objects and trial a variety of different educational capabilities, applications, and technology to create & experiment with new & improved K-12 learning experiences.
  • Administers and implements content management solutions for all aspects of the content lifecycle inclusive of creation and ingestion, versioning and management, search and retrieval, and delivery to end users and systems.
  • Creating content models, processes, and workflow mapping in support of creation & experimentation of K-12 learning experiences.
  • Creating and transforming structured content in multiple markup languages.
  • Understand, make recommendations, and manage learning object metadata to support the reusability of learning objects, to aid discoverability, and to facilitate their interoperability, usually in the context of online learning management systems (LMS).
  • Informs future product offerings by identifying emerging trends in the K-12 virtual learning space, building proofs of concepts with OBL learning objects, systems, and services, and trialling those proofs of concepts with students, families, and school staff.
  • Showcases III teams work to OBL Organization and Customers.
  • Works with a cross-functional Agile team to complete projects and features;

  • Work with Product Management to ensure understanding of, and therefore contributes to the development of, a high-quality virtual learning experience.
  • Work with other architects & engineers across the organization to ensure a secure, stable, scalable, quality, inter-operable learning experience.
  • Proposes and implements new ways of working or procedures within own area

Training / Competencies Experience

  • Must understand content modelling and process mapping.
  • Must have familiarity with creation and transformation of structured content.
  • Must be capable of developing and implementing multiple projects simultaneously with tight deadlines
  • Must be a self-starter and continuous learner – one who is willing to research and acquire new skills
  • Must be comfortable with ambiguity and pivoting priorities- and help other be comfortable as well
  • Must be analytical – able to grasp complex concepts and synthesize unstructured data to summarize effectively and drive decision making

Must communicate highly complex information to colleagues in a way that can be easily understood Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an educational, information, or technology field.

  • Minimum 3 years experience with digital content engineering, development, or architecture in a product, services, or other educational environment.
  • Experience in XSLT, XPath, XQuery, IEEE 2002 Standard for Learning Object Metadata preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of information architecture principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft and Google business applications preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS), Educational Management Systems, or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems is preferred.
  • Familiarity with SAFe Agile principles
