We are doing it again with the first live, internet-delivered TV service – Sling TV – that bucks traditional pay-TV norms and gives consumers a truly new way to access and watch television.The TOC (Technical Operations Center) is a television programming environment where the operations team is responsible for monitoring, responding, escalating, documenting and maintaining the quality of all services that are re-distributed to its customers. Communication in written and verbal form with station personnel, internal departments and co-workers is essential to the performance of the team. All TOC personnel are expected to be able to multi-task, pay attention to fine details, demonstrate good teamwork and follow instructions given to them in an orderly and timely manner. Each member must have the ability to manage their own daily responsibilities, but also be able to take specific instructions for a special event and follow through to completion.In addition to day-to-day activities associated with ensuring on-air signal integrity, this position provides direct leadership and is a point of escalation for their respective TOC team members and management. This position advises and assists team members in resolving complex issues that arise with internal and external customers as a result of outages and failures during a particular shift. Ideally a Supervisor should possess in-depth operational knowledge of all Operational Support Systems (OSS) used within the TOC, have objective command of their team, build positive relationships with other teams, review and create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and keep management apprised of issues affecting their respective team.In this Supervisor position, Supervisors are expected to behave in a leadership role as directed by management within an assigned TOC Team. Activities would include, but are not limited to: developing high-functioning teams and employees, recognizing and holding accountability with team members, conducting monthly one-on-ones, delivering regular performance feedback including performance reviews, owning difficult messages, and coordinating escalations and resolution activities.Responsibilities:

Provide expectations for team behavior and results and hold team members accountable

Guide the professional growth of team members by writing performance appraisals and providing regular performance feedback

Coach team to follow Quality Assurance guidelines, and coach when necessary

Review department tasks, prioritize the team's daily activities and delegate appropriately

Responsible in making sure all areas of business are manned by qualified technicians. In the event of an emergency, could be necessary to personally operate the console if all other staffing options are exhausted.

Administer team's timecards and absence requests

Direct team member's training and maintain progress using the department's training program and online resources

Empower employees to take responsibility for work tasks, goals and their development plans. Delegate responsibility and expect accountability and regular feedback.

Participate in the development of the department by mentoring and training junior personnel

Seek out and identify deficiencies in processes and procedures and take appropriate action

Recognize and reward exceptional actions and behavior and provide disciplinary action when warranted

Coach, mentor and develop team to include oversight of hiring, employee onboarding and providing career development planning

Maintain safe and healthy work environment by developing, following and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations

Effectively uses written and verbal communication skills to relay details of issues or tasks (i.e. email, ELVIS, telephone, etc.)

Actively participate in scheduled meetings, supports changes and ensures that teams are informed

Direct and coordinate activities of technicians with the objective of ensuring continuous operation of content delivered to Dish customers

Possess an in-depth working knowledge of all Operation Support Systems (OSS) or uplink departments within the respective TOC environment

Help direct team activities and actions during crisis situations; serves as the communications hub for the uplink, orchestrating phone, radio and intercom communications traffic

Receive and accept passdowns to ensure all notifications such as weather alerts, ongoing outages, or hourly updates are communicated to oncoming shift personnel, and get clarification when needed.

Demonstrate objective command of the shift, including assigning tasks or consoles and providing work related feedback to team members

Monitor on-air programming and responds to alarms on local, national and international broadcasters

Monitor services that include adult content without objections

Follow escalation procedures for non-conforming media

Ensure escalation and communicates with senior staff as required

Responsible for coordinating and/or performing of on-air routing of content

Uses character generators and on-air routers to provide customer messaging

Accepts OTHER duties as assigned

Basic Requirements:

Provides immediate supervision to a team engaged in work directed by procedures and policy. A portion of time may be spent performing individual contributor work.

Supervises daily operations of 1-2 teams performing the same or similar work.

Ability to type 20 WPM

6 months experience with Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google G-Suite to access emails, enter data, access databases, and create documents

Ability to foster teamwork and unity, expedite conflict resolution, and the appreciation of diversity as well as cohesiveness, supportiveness, and working effectively together to enable each employee and the department to succeed

Ability to lead a team to high performance by keeping commitments, practicing accountability and delivering results.

Ability to work a rotating schedule as dictated by the needs of the business as the facility operates 24/7/365

Proven leadership skills and cohesive team player who is self-motivated and reliable to the organization and able to successfully interact with management, and other departments

Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Should possess a strong, solid, expert level understanding of TOC systems, procedures and policies within 6-12 months of hire date

Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures

Ability to deal with concurrent problems and issues effectively

Ability to remain calm in a high pressure situation and deal with ambiguous or unexpected situations

Ability to prioritize in a fast paced environment

Ability to approach problems not covered by existing procedures is important

Strong knowledge of networking concepts and the ability to apply advanced troubleshooting skills to resolve complex problems are essential

BA/BS preferred plus 2 years of progressively related experience.
