- Maintains working relationships with representatives of the news media and local community organizations (e.g. newspapers, radio, television, service organizations, public officials, business leaders) parents and internal employee groups for the purpose of keeping positive lines of communication open that will enhance district programs and issues.
- Assists in development and dissemination of communication strategies and information to support district goals and providing information to staff, volunteers, and the community.
- Compiles information and materials (e.g. information gathering, writing, graphic design and pre-press production of external and internal print publications and web publications) of communicating the district’s vision, mission, and core values.
- Maintains a strong understanding of social media platforms to help seek, post and monitor district social media as well as monitor outside social media sites.
- Maintains a variety of manual and electronic documents, files and/or records (e.g. news release archives, department database, media content list, project-specific contacts) for the purpose of ensuring availability of required information and/or documentation and providing an up-to-date reference trail.
- Researches a variety of topics (e.g. planning and coverage of school/district/community relations events) for the purpose of developing printed and electronic documents that provide information in journalist style to staff and/or the public for the purpose of promoting Laramie County School District 1 programs.
- Shoots digital photographs for the purpose of use on external and internal publication in print media as well as on the district’s social media sites.
- Handles a variety of sensitive and confidential material in a manner that assists the district with its mission.
- Attends meetings and/or training sessions for the purpose of providing district representation, meeting district requirements, and maintaining skills necessary to perform job functions.
- Assists in the operation of the photo identification system for the purpose of providing employees and outside contractors with identification cards to enhance school/building safety and security.
- Performs other duties as assigned

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for implementing and maintaining internal and external communications for Laramie County School District 1 via public information, writing, graphic design and production of internal/external print and web publications, social media, and participating in activities and events related to staff, volunteers and community outreach.

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma, or equivalent, required
Coursework in communications, marketing, and or social/media preferred
