    Duties

    Summary

    Its primary purpose is to accomplish the inspection, repair, modification, installation and troubleshooting of sheet metal, fiberglass, bonded honeycomb and other structural materials and components as well as treatment (i.e., mechanical and chemical), and painting of missiles, aircraft powered and nonpowered Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE), and monitoring aircraft and equipment washing.

    Responsibilities

    (1) Independently inspects aircraft and determines the nature and extent of repairs to be made, using applicable technical orders as guidelines.

    (2) Repairs cracks in aircraft skin.

    (3) Troubleshoots aircraft structural repair situations in such areas as fuselage, tails, wings, cowlings, and stabilizers.

    (4) Aligns and balances component structures and airframe using precision measuring instruments and levels.

    (5) Inspects damage or deterioration and determines repair or replacement of plastic, fiberglass, composites, bonded structures, and bonded honeycomb assemblies using powered and nonpowered tools and equipment.

    KEY REQUIREMENTS:

    Open to Air Force, AF Reserves, and Air Nat'l Guard military mbrs only

    Must become a member of the Wyoming Air Nat'l Guard before appt.

    Must submit vMPF Rip/Data Verification Rip with application

    EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:

    Technicians are paid through Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer (DD/EFT).

    The Selected applicant must complete an "I-9, Employment Verification", "OF-306, Declaration of Federal Employment", and a "Declaration of Relatives in the Wyoming Military Department" prior to the appointment date.

    Military Technicians are ineligible for military enlistment, retention, and student loan repayment bonuses.

    Acceptance of a Technician position will terminate these military incentives.

    Acceptance of a permanent or indefinite position will cause termination from the Selected Reserve Incentive

    Program (SRIP) and TRICARE Reserve Select (TRS).

    Recruitment/Relocation Incentive MAY BE authorized, if eligible. Subject to funding and TAG approval.

    PCS is not authorized in lieu of incentives.

    Military Technicians in the excepted service will wear the appropriate uniform while performing as a

    Technician.

    Veteran's preference does not apply to National Guard Technician positions in accordance with Title 32 USC 709(f).

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

    Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. 2.     DESCRIPTION OF WORK:

    Work involves the fabrication, modification, repair, assembly, and installation of sheet metal parts, items, and assemblies. Metals include but are not restricted to galvanized and black iron, aluminum and aluminum alloys, stainless steel, copper, and brass sheets, lead alloys and bronze.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    Must possess experience or training that has provided the candidate with the ability to plan, manufacture, and install cylindrical, square, or rectangular-shaped objects that have easily constructed fastenings such as single and double-hem edges and single, double or grooved seams.

    SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

    WG-08

    Must possess at least 12 months of experience or training planning, manufacturing, and installing cylindrical, square, or rectangular-shaped objects that have easily constructed fastening. Experience cutting and forming by using basic hand and powered tools such as hammers, chisels, hand snips, band and circle saws, squaring shears, seamers, bar folders, breaks, and stakes. Experience assembling parts by seaming, bolting, screwing, riveting, tacking, spot-welding, or soldering. Experience demonstrating a basic understanding of using measuring instruments.WG-10

    Must possess at least 18 months of experience or training in planning, layout, and construction skills to manufacture items and systems with dovetailed seams, set-in-bottom seams, burred-bottom seams, or wired or lock seams. Experience using more complicated shop tools and equipment. Experience in using metals including stainless steel, copper sheet, magnesium, honeycomb material and alloys. Experience demonstrating the use of more complicated mathematical calculations and complicated measuring instruments.

    NOTE: Minimum Requirements and Specialized Experience will be used to determine qualifications for the announced position. Applicants must provide from (e.g. 02/2015 - 03/2017 or Feb 2017 - Mar - 2017) dates and hours worked per week with description of your specialized experience on the resume.

    MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Selected candidates will be required to be in a compatible military grade and assignment prior to the effective date of placement.

    COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENTS:

    Enlisted: 2A7X3

    Must possess or be eligible to retrain into AFSC 2A7X3, Aircraft Structural Maintenance.

    Enlisted 2A7X3ASVAB Requirements:

    Must possess a minimum score of "47" on the Mechanical portion of the ASVAB.

    Medical Profile PULHES must not be greater than 333132.

    Must be able to lift 60 lbs. unassisted.

    DRIVER'S LICENSE:

    Must possess a valid state's driver's license.
