GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Perform a variety of duties including grounds, facilities, vehicle and equipment maintenance; supervision of seasonal maintenance staff; water and septic system operation; customer service; and general public safety.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level.

  • Perform site maintenance: identify and prioritize work; purchase supplies and materials; routinely inspect buildings, vehicles, equipment, grounds and facilities.

  • Maintain roads and sidewalks: snow removal; asphalt repair; and blading.

  • Clean and sanitize vault and flush restrooms and shower house; remove trash from the vaults; assist with the maintenance and monitoring of 12 septic systems.

  • Clean office; plant and maintain trees; perform lawn care, weed control and landscaping duties.

  • Repair and service equipment, vehicles, facilities, and tools.

  • Ensure proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.

  • Perform carpentry, welding/fabrication, irrigation, painting, plumbing, and electrical work. Assist with building inspections and traffic counter maintenance and reporting.

  • Safely operate a wide variety of small and large equipment

  • Assist with the operation and maintenance of the Level 1 potable water well systems, including winterization and start up.

  • Complete monthly reports, logs, etc. in a timely manner.

  • Assist with reservation system.

  • Distribute fee supplies and rules and regulations documents to the appropriate distribution sites.

  • Sell Park and ORV permits.

  • Assist monitoring the park web weather station and reservoir levels.

  • Perform security checks on the dam.

  • Assist park rangers by reporting vandalism or violations of park rules and regulations.

  • Provide exceptional customer service.

  • Assist with emergencies, hazards and search and rescue when needed.

Qualifications

PREFERENCES:

Preference may be given to applicants with two or more years of work experience in the trades, including at least one year of supervision.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of safety and regulations.

  • Knowledge of basic carpentry, construction, plumbing, landscaping, grounds maintenance, welding, fabrication and electrical work.

  • Ability to safely operate vehicles, light and heavy duty equipment, and tools.

  • Skill in supervising full time or seasonal staff.

  • Skill in basic math, data entry, computer and word processing.

  • Knowledge of welding techniques.

  • Skill in providing excellent customer service.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Associate's Degree

Experience:

0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Building and Grounds) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Building and Grounds Assistant II

OR

Education & Experience Substitution:

2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Building and Grounds) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Building and Grounds Assistant II

Necessary Special Requirements

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions.

  • Exposure to hazardous materials, bodily fluids, chemicals, bio-hazards, and/or the elements.

  • Must be able to operate vehicles, light and heavy equipment, and large, complex cleaning and grounds maintenance equipment.

NOTES:

  • FLSA: Non-exempt

  • All new hires or rehires starting in a non-exempt position on or after January 1, 2018 are required to be paid hourly.

  • Level 1 Water Distribution certification is required within one year of employment.

  • Commercial Weed and Pest Applicators license is required within one year of employment.

  • First Aid/CPR certification is required.

  • Class A CDL is required.
