SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:

Coordinate and direct activities of workers engaged in maintaining and repairing all equipment. Coordinate with other supervisors and employees to ensure that maintenance work is completed by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct workers engaged in repairing production equipment and doing preventative maintenance. This includes prioritizing the work of others.

  • Requisition tools, equipment, and supplies.

  • Inspect completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications, and standards.

  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew.

  • Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work problems.

  • Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.

  • Coordinate and direct activities of workers as lead man and personally complete electrical, mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance procedures as needed.

  • Assist all departments with machinery breakdowns.

  • Assist the general maintenance crew with equipment rebuild, plant shutdowns, and new equipment installations.

  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area.

  • Willing to work overtime when needed.

  • Follow all safety requirements for this position and complete pre-shift safety briefings and inspections and ensure workers to do the same.

  • Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations.

  • Perform all other duties as directed by management.

LEAD-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directly coordinates 3-8 employees in the Maintenance Department.

  • Carries out Lead responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include:

  • Training employees

  • Planning, assigning, and directing work

  • Assisting the Maintenance Manager in appraising performance

  • Rewarding and disciplining employees

  • Addressing complaints and resolving problems

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and operating and maintenance manuals. Must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Must be able to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

EDUCATIONAL AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Reading, writing, and mathematical competency testing required

  • Minimum one year of experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance.

  • Great trouble shooting abilities.

  • Knowledge of AC & DC motors and drives and controls.

  • Knowledge of 120/240/480v single and three phase systems.

  • Ability to use most hand and power tools and other tools needed for this position: Amp clamp, volt meter, wrenches, drills, presses, torches, etc.

  • Good knowledge of state and local safety codes.

OCCUPATIONAL AND/OR PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to successfully complete training through Dura-line’s lift truck training program.

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs with or without reasonable assistance.

  • Ability to climb ladders and work at many height levels.

  • Ability to maintain a good working relationship with co-workers.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Manufacturing environment

  • Electrical, water and chemical hazards present in working environment

  • Work includes exposure to hot equipment, machinery with moving parts that start and stop automatically, and spending 8 hours a day on your feet.

  • Moving from one area to another may require stepping over and/or ducking under objects.
