    The primary purpose of this position is to provide technical engineering support to assist with the management and sustainment of the real property (RP) and real property installed equipment (RPIE) installed in the F. E. Warren AFB missile complex, supporting new construction, renovations, and improvement projects of real property facilities.

    Responsibilities

    • Assists with development and preparation of engineering drawings involving original and complex designs. Assists with development and preparation of engineering drawings involving original and complex designs.
    • Serves as Flight GIS/CADD Technician: Assists with responsibilities for the F.E. Warren AFB Missile Complex Geographical Information System (GIS) Program.
    • Assists with evaluation and recommendation for approval, clients' requests for new construction, renovation, and improvements of real property facilities including utility systems.
    • Assists in coordination of projects with engineers in a variety of disciplines and/or with architects. Supports and works with engineer/architecture professionals to ensure all design, construction, or operations considerations have been addressed.

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - Work will frequently require travel away from the normal duty station, including temporary duty (TDY) travel to towns and cities closest to missile facilities.

    • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.

    • The work will require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license will be required for the position. Government Driver License will be required.

    • Work will require the employee to pass dispatch, utilize MEED unit, gain access to the site and provide safe access to the site for the contractor.

    Qualifications

    In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Technical and Medical Support Positions, to include the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the GS-0802-09, Engineering Technical Series.     SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience that equipped the applicant with a particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically related in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, the specialized experience must have been at the GS-08 grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal Service. Examples of creditable specialized experience includes skill in applying, standardized rules or operations for limited projects involving specialized or complicated procedures requiring substantial training or experience in methods and practices of engineering technician techniques sufficient to produce engineering drawings involving original, novel, and/or complex designs; exercise judgment to interpret drawings, plans and specifications and take action or make recommendations based on preliminary data interpretation or analysis. Considerable time is spent searching for information and in discussions with the designer to understand the design concept, to obtain information needed to make the drawings, and ensure appropriate interaction between components.

    OREDUCATION: Two full years of graduate education or a master's degree that is directly related to the work of the position. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

    ORCOMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts.

    FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-08 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

    1. Knowledge of symbols, terminology, and accepted standards used in engineering drawings; and the equipment, facilities, and systems of civil, mechanical, electrical, and architectural engineering disciplines using architectural/graphic design software to accomplish unusually difficult engineering technician assignments.

    2. Knowledge and experience in surveying methods, equipment, and techniques in the measurement or determination of distances, elevations, areas, angles, land boundaries, and other features of the earth's surface.

    3. Knowledge and experience in utilizing AutoCAD, ArcGIS and related software programs to complete design and manipulate survey data.

    4. Ability to prepare original and complex drawings that are neat, accurate, appropriately dimensioned, and logically arranged, utilizing the methods and engineering technician techniques of both mechanical and electronic drafting; and print neatly and legibly, both freehand and with mechanical lettering devices.

    5. Ability to make mathematical computations using standardized tables and formulas.

    6. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

    PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
