    LOCATION: Great Plains Region, Wyoming Area Office, Boysen, Wyoming (1 position), and Seminoe Dam, Wyoming (1 positions).

    Responsibilities

    • Performs journeyman mechanical installation and maintenance duties in a hydroelectric powerplant, pumping plant, and/or other structures and equipment.

    • Operates cranes, hoists, industrial tractors incidental to lifting, moving, dismantling, assembling, overhauling, or repairing of plant machinery and related equipment.

    • Performs preventive maintenance, welding, pipefitting, machining, and rigging incidental to journeyman mechanical maintenance work.

    • Checks position of breakers and operates high voltage switch gear and related devices as directed by the control center and takes daily powerplant output and performance readings as directed.

    • Acts as job supervisor, switchman in placing and removing clearances.

    • In the event of emergency or loss of control or sensing communication with the control center, starts, stops, and operates units, gates, valves, and breakers in accordance with standard operation procedures as directed by the control center.

    Occasional travel - Occasional travel of up to 2 nights per month may be required for this position.

    Qualifications

    Minimum qualifications for trades and labor positions are determined by evaluation of job elements. You must meet at least 2 points on the screen-out element(s) and obtain an average of at least 2 points on all of the job elements in order to be considered qualified for this position.

    Applicants will be further evaluated on the following Job Elements through your resume and responses to the online questions.

    1. Ability to do the work of Journey Level Plant Mechanic without more than normal supervision. (Screen-out)

    2. Ability to operate, use, and maintain various machines and hand tools.

    3. Knowledge of safe clearance procedures and safety standards.

    4. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and manufacturer's instructions.

    5. Ability to maintain, install, repair, and troubleshoot powerplant and mobile equipment.

    6. Knowledge of welding, plumbing, and pipefitting.

    7. Ability to operate cableway hoists, overhead mobile, bridge and gantry cranes.

    Additional information

    • Reclamation has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisory approval.

    • Operation of a Government vehicle is required; therefore, a valid State driver's license is required. Driving record will be verified prior to final selection.

    • Work schedule: Four 10-hour days, Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

    • At Government expense, the applicant selected will be required to complete and successfully pass a pre-employment physical.

    • This position has been designated as a Non-Sensitive, (Low Risk) position. This requires a Tier 1 background investigation. You must successfully obtain and maintain this investigation level as a condition of employment.
