  • JOB SUMMARY

    JOB SUMMARY Works under the supervision of the Vice President of Human Resources. The childcare manager coordinates, supervises and participates in all activities of the child care center. Coordinates care for infants and young children singly or in groups through a safe, fun, learning environment. Meets the gradient developmental needs of the children through appropriate adult-child and peer-child relationships. Actively participates in administrative processes such as budget preparation, scheduling, and program development. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • PRIMARY JOB DUTIES

    • Develops and maintains the standards of childcare as established CCH policies and procedures.

    • Reviews and evaluates each caregivers curriculum of daily programs to meet children’s needs based upon each age group’s individual needs.

    • Supervises activities of the child care staff, reviews staff schedules, completes annual competency review with staff, and assists with the hiring process to select new child care employees.

    • Provides daily, weekly and monthly data and statistics for billing procedures, finances and accounting requirements and state reporting requirements.

    • Prepares the annual budget and operates within budget guidelines.

    • Contributes to CCH functioning by participation in department meetings and activities and offers recommendations for improvement.

    • Attends and participates in continuing education offerings for child care as required by the department, determines continuing education needs of the child care staff, develops in-services for the department and provides orientation for new personnel.

    • Develops, directs, implements, and actively participates in departmental Strategic Quality Management plan.

    • Participates in cost containment by supervising careful use of equipment and supplies.

    • Maintains a communication link with parents.

    • Provides leadership and role models excellence by providing safe and skilled childcare to the children by exhibiting effective customer service skills.

    • Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices.

    • Complies with the hospital’s Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.

    • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • JOB SPECIFICATIONS

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Childhood Development, or closely related field, preferred. Minimum of CDA (Child Development Associate).

    • Licensure: Infant and Toddler Director Credential

    • Experience: Three years experience managing/supervising in child-care field, or minimum of two years experience in directing a pre-school/childcare program or equivalent.

    • Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Must be able to type and input data into computer programs. Ability to use copy machine, calculator, audio and visual equipment, projector. Must be able to speak clearly and answer telephones appropriately.

    • Interpersonal Skills: Must show affection towards staff and children and show enjoyment in interactions with staff and children.

    • Essential Physical Requirements: Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.

    • Essential Mental Abilities: Requires ability to problem solve; teach and explain so children will understand. Attention to detail, able to schedule children and staff within proper ratios and be fiscally responsible.

    • Essential Sensory Requirements: Must be able to see, hear, feel and smell. Requires ability to distinguish colors. Requires ability to verbally communicate.

    • Exposure to Hazards: OSHA CATEGORY II. Tasks that involve a potential exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues. Identified job duties do not include a reasonable anticipation for the potential contact with blood or contaminated body fluid but circumstances may occur which may result in the potential for exposure. Use of appropriate protective measures is required for employee (s) engaged in potential exposure situations.

    • Certifications required: See Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification Policy and Certifications/Education Requirements Policy.
