Job Description Summary:

The Accounting Manager will oversee the daily functions of the accounting department, in conjunction with the Director of Finance and maintain accounting standards within the established policies and procedures. The position would understand each accounting position and how to direct daily, weekly, and monthly reporting process compliance with the property standards.

QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, & WORK EXPERIENCE

  • 2+ years in hospitality accounting roles

  • Experience working in various general ledger and subsequent systems

  • Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Hotel Management preferred

  • Experience in management of staff positions

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide oversight of accounting staff positions, with proper training to standards and procedures.

  • Provide training to personnel on internal control compliance and accounting procedure

  • Solid understanding in all areas of Accounting from A/P, A/R, General Ledger, Credit, Collections, Audit, Payroll, P&L preparation and analysis.

  • Facilitate and execute month-end close procedures.

  • Prepare and review journal entries, invoices, and other accounting transactions.

  • Reconciliation of general ledger accounts, including tying to various subledgers and subsystems (IA, A/R, A/P, etc.)

  • Reconcile and analyze balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.

  • Ensure all daily income audit and cash reconciliation processes are completed on a daily basis.

  • Daily cash reconciliations against bank statements.

  • Review sales tax reports and filing.

  • Special projects involving improvement or enhancements of accounting system and internal control.

  • Identify opportunities for automation of repetitive processes and close acceleration.

  • Position will be required to work at varied schedule, that may include evenings and weekends.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to manage change effectively.

  • Demonstrate ability to lead by example.

  • Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills.

  • Maintain a good working relationship with the property personnel and other departments.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

Respond to any reasonable task assigned by Director of Finance. Assist in other departments as needed.
