    LOCATION: Great Plains Region, Wyoming Area Office, Facilities Management Division, Control Center Branch, Mills, Wyoming (near Casper, Wyoming) (1 position).

    Responsibilities

    • Performs operations by centralized control; directs switching and tagging operations to accomplish and issue clearances, hot-line orders, special conditions and general switching on all facilities. Prepares, checks, or corrects switching programs to comply with operating procedures.

    • Coordinates source of power clearances and hot-line orders with Dispatcher.

    • Accomplishes appropriate system voltage and reactive control. Responsible for adhering to load schedules set up by System Dispatcher.

    • Handles system emergencies, testing and restoring system facilities to service following outage by controlling powerplants loading and special control equipment. Reports problems and failures to System Dispatcher, facility personnel, and supervisor.

    • Monitors instruments and remote data recording equipment and checks automatic acquisition of power and water data and maintains stations logs.

    • Computes necessary changes in gate positions, makes gate position changes by centralized control or orders gate changes by manual control.

    Occasional travel - Travel of up to 2 nights per month may be required for this position.

    TIME-IN-GRADE: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b).

    Qualifications

    Minimum qualifications for trades and labor positions are determined by evaluation of job elements. You must meet at least 2 points on the screen-out element(s) and obtain an average of at least 2 points on all of the job elements in order to be considered qualified for this position.

    • Reclamation has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisory approval.

    • Work schedule: 12-hour rotating shifts.

    • This position requires the applicant to complete an audiogram.

    • Operation of a Government vehicle is required; therefore, a valid State driver's license is required. Driving record will be verified prior to final selection.

    • This position has been designated as a Public Trust (Moderate Risk) position. This requires a higher-level MBI investigation. This investigation will include a background search of your employment, law enforcement, and credit/financial records. You must successfully obtain and maintain this investigation level as a condition of employment. You will be required to undergo and successfully pass a reinvestigation of your background every 5 years.
