    The Pinedale Field Office manages 912,000 acres of federal surface/federal minerals and almost 300,000 acres of private surface/federal minerals. Major uses of the public lands involve oil and gas activity, recreation and livestock grazing.

    Responsibilities

    As Field Manager, you will serve as the focal point in the Pinedale Field Office in the High Desert District. You will oversee the full spectrum of programs for the Field Office including: energy and minerals; lands and realty; wildlife habitat; timber; outdoor recreation; archeological and cultural resources and fire and Law enforcement activities. The office deals with complex oil and gas development; split estate, and conflicting energy development. You will provide leadership, motivation, direction and decisions required to implement and carry out multiple use and ecosystem management within an organization containing a variety of resources. You will facilitate problem solving and accomplishment of Field Office goals and programs; set priorities; monitor and assign work; impart guidance and instructions; recommend changes to increase productivity; establish performance standards and evaluate employee performance. You will also be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing multiple-use management and protection of a variety of resources.

    Physical Demands: Work is typically sedentary in nature, however normal field work and occasional strenuous duty associate with resources work may be required.

    Work Environment: Most work is performed in an office setting. Field work may be conducted in a variety of conditions including extreme temperatures and inclement weather.

    Qualifications

    In order to be rated as qualified for position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement - please be sure to include this information in your resume. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade of the position to be filled.

    To qualify for this position, you must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level. Specialized Experience is defined as: Experience supervising programs in energy and minerals development. Providing leadership, motivation, direction. Making decisions required to implement and carry out multiple use and ecosystem management within an organization containing a variety of resources.

    You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.
