About the Role

The Deposit Account Servicing Specialist provides support to the divisions through our centralized account servicing functions. This includes but is not limited to the following activities:

  • Provides overdrawn customer counseling and support with an account retention focus.

  • Deposit Account Collection Activities and Recordkeeping. Contributes to the growth and profitability of our deposits by minimizing charge offs and increasing recoveries.

  • Maintains an in-depth understanding of business functions related to deposit services and products for the overall organization.

  • Reviews deposit account data entry quality control to ensure data integrity, legal and regulatory compliance, and maintain product and system standardization standards.

  • Assists in the administration of the Unclaimed Property/Escheatment Program to be followed by division staff.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contact customers through telephone, email, and mail communication (upon division request this could be as early as the first day the account is showing on the overdraft report). Ensures account notices and collection letters are sent timely. Collection of deposit charged off account balances. Establish payment time, repayment plan and compliance of repayment plan. Document collection efforts and conversations by phone, mail or third party collection agency with the customer in the Collection Message area on each account. This includes reporting account to, and responding to requests for documentation from, the third party collection agency.

  • Retain and continue to develop customer relationships by providing a professional level of service that is timely, thorough and responsive to all customers. Able to negotiate a “win-win”. Follows through on commitments and obligations (including, but not limited to, returning telephone calls in a timely manner). Performs research for the divisions by investigating basic dispute claims in accordance with rules and regulations with a high degree of accuracy. Takes ownership of problems until they are resolved to the customer’s satisfaction, including making the determination as to when it is necessary to involve the supervisor or other resources.

  • Preform deposit account servicing maintenance on accounts per review of deposit account data quality control reports, division request or centralization of job function.

  • Provide input on the development of new and revised departmental job aids to support policy. Strive to ensure that deposit systems and products are functioning in a manner that will provide divisions with a competitive edge and excellent customer service.

  • Provide support to the divisions on unclaimed property/escheatment. Work with the divisions to meet escheatment deadlines.

  • Must comply with all company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Knowledge in Collection and Unclaimed Property regulations. Must complete the assigned online training courses and achieve a passing score by due date.

About You

QUALIFICATIONS:

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 5 years banking experience is required.

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in deposit collections and/or deposit operations required.

  • Experience in compliance with deposit law and regulation preferred.

  • Experience with Jack Henry and Associates products including SilverLake, Xperience, Streamline, and Vertex preferred.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:

  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITY:

  • Experience multi-tasking within various office software including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Chrome, Email and Calendaring.

  • Detail oriented, proven analytical skills, problem-solving abilities and collaboration skills.

  • Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize and drive efforts independently

  • Demonstrates adaptability and embraces change, writes and speaks effectively and can influence others.

  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal relationships and teamwork.

  • Positive and professional verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently to carry out assigned tasks.

  • A significant level of trust, credibility and diplomacy is required. In-depth dialogues, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature. Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise level.

Must be capable of up to 15% travel (e.g. 3.5 days/month) by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities. Travel will be necessary to conduct the duties of this job, and the employee must have the ability to drive and have proper licensing.

Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation/inspection of machines and/or using measurement devices at distances close to the eyes.
