Description and FunctionsOpen Until Filled GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The purpose of this position is to provide instruction in the WSP vocational education programs and work closely with WDOC industry programs to teach practical skills. Instruct inmates using the NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research) curriculum. This includes instruction in basic construction safety, construction math, hand and power tools, reading blue prints and basic rigging. Responsible for tool control and classification, classroom management, record keeping, data entry, and teaching trade craft college classes. Researches the latest training resource material to develop course curriculum, lesson plans and other training materials needed to teach activities and objectives; develops individual program plans.

Performs training needs assessment using job analysis, employee surveys, interviews and other special techniques to determine training effectiveness, identify training needs and establish specific learning objectives.

Develops program methodologies, revisions, and monthly reports.

Completes and evaluates monthly progress reports on identified objective and activities.

Plans, organizes and schedules times, dates, facilities and locations for training workshops.

Administers standardized tests and functional assessments.

Develops and implements specialized program methodologies/data collection systems.

QualificationsPREFERENCES/AGENCY REQUIREMENT:Preference will be given to applicants with a Bachelor's Degree, plus one (1) year of progressive work experience in Education or Instruction; OR experience equal to five (5) years of progressive work in Education or Instruction.This position is currently responsible for the wood shop, preference will be given to those with carpentry, cabinetry, and/or wood shop experience. Preference also given for current NCCER certification.KNOWLEDGE:

Knowledge of basic regulations and practices associated with civil emergency activities.

Knowledge of basic instructional and training procedures and practices.

Knowledge of behavior management principles.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education:Bachelor's Degree (typically in Education)Experience:0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Education or Instruction) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Vocational TrainerOREducation & Experience Substitution:3-5 years of progressive work experience (typically in Education or Instruction) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Vocational TrainerCertificates, Licenses, Registrations:NoneNecessary Special RequirementsPHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Must be able to stand and walk on concrete floor for long periods of time

Must be able to lift 25 pounds

This position must pass a background check.
