GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Assists with managing warehouse inventory, data entry, shipping and receiving and customer service for the Wyoming State Penitentiary.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level.
  • Manages inventory through receipt, storage, issuance, and accountability of all equipment, material, and commodities (i.e. hygiene products, cuisine ingredients, etc.).

  • Maintains books or accounts, distributes credits and debits, produces reports, and collects and records payments.

  • Supervises equipment maintenance and management.

  • Accounts for all hazardous materials.

  • Cleans and organizes storage facilities.

  • Updates the computer database with all inventory, equipment, and costs.

  • Develops and maintains the equipment acquisition and replacement plan.

  • Conducts monthly and annual inventories on all equipment and inventories, disposing of old and outdated equipment and inventory.

  • Researches and maintains list of suppliers, best pricing, availability and ordering.

  • Resolves customer/vendor problems in a positive manner.

  • Assists in directing personnel and in operating the warehouse management system.

Qualifications

PREFERENCES:

Preference may be given to applicants with progressive work experience in a warehouse setting.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of warehouse procedures and techniques, including sorting and stacking.

  • Knowledge of Federal, State and Local policies and regulations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Associate's Degree (typically in Finance)

Experience:

0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Purchasing or Inventory) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Shipping and Receiving Clerk I

OR

Education & Experience Substitution:

2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Purchasing or Inventory) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Shipping and Receiving Clerk I

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at a sustained rate.

  • Climbing on an occasional to regular basis.

  • Lifting/grasping up to 50 pounds without assistance on a regular basis.

  • Walking on cement floors on an occasional to regular basis.

  • Walking up and down stairs on a regular basis.

  • Balancing on an occasional basis.

  • Stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching on a regular basis.

  • Pushing/pulling on a regular basis.

  • Typing/Repetitive motion on an occasional to regular basis.

  • Talking/hearing on a frequent basis.

  • Seeing: the visual ability to operate machinery and perform mechanical or skilled trades duties.

  • Seeing: the visual ability to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.

  • FLSA: Non-Exempt

  • This position must pass a background/reference check.
