JOB SUMMARY

Working collaboratively with the HR Team and organizational leadership, this position will help develop, implement and maintain HR management programs to include, but are not limited to, employee relations and investigations, performance management, employee development, employee engagement, compensation and benefits, recruitment, project management, process improvement, policy development, and HR reporting/HRIS support. Duties and tasks reflect substantial variety and moderate to high complexity. Assignments are given in the form of projects, broad goals, or areas of responsibility.

  • Note: This is a part-time opening for 24 hours per week with a flexible daytime schedule.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recommends and leads initiatives to improve employee engagement and retention.

  • Responsible for project management of moderate to high complexity projects for department programs, processes, and continuous improvement.
  • Coaches and assists managers with employee relations concerns, ensuring proper policies and procedures are followed related to discipline, termination, and leave activities.

  • Investigates, documents, and proposes resolution to employee grievances, and other employment issues, including complaints of sexual harassment and discrimination.

  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to managers.
  • Assists managers and employees with conflict resolution to resolve misunderstandings, facilitate communication, and promote effective working relationships.
  • Collaborates with department stakeholders for problem solving and continuous improvement efforts. This includes conducting a gap analysis, identifying various recommendations to address gaps, and implementing changes necessary using project management tools.
  • Assists with the development and maintenance of HR process documentation, and assisting the HR Team with HRIS data updates throughout the life cycle of an employee (new hires, transfers, terminations, etc.).
  • Conducts employee exit interviews and assists with the tracking and communication of feedback trends.
  • Conducts policy and procedure research, development, and employee communication/education.
  • Creates and shares routine and ad hoc reports on a regular basis for dashboard review of HR-related metrics (FTE, Turnover, AA tracking, staff ratios, etc.).

  • Reviews and assists with the accurate processing of HRIS transactions such as new hires, terminations, wage changes, transfers and other business-related changes.
  • Assists the HR Team with tracking and auditing compliance of HR file requirements such as credentials, orientation, performance evaluations, and competencies, etc.

  • Ensures data integrity of the HRIS system through regular audits, updates and maintenance with the HR Team.
  • Conducts job analysis, wage analysis, and leads compensation benchmarking surveys.
  • Assists with policy and procedure research, development, and manager/staff policy and procedure education.
  • Assists with onboarding and new employee orientation to ensure the process is efficient and effective in the retention of new staff.
  • Represents organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations on an as-needed basis.

  • Assists with the collection, recordkeeping, and reporting of EEO/Affirmative Action data on all applicants and employees in the HRIS. Assists with Affirmative Action Planning and reporting compliance.
  • Supports management with compliance in all areas of employment law (State and Federal), as well as HR compliance with other regulatory agencies.

  • Monitors industry developments in the area of human resources; analyzes proposed state and federal law, regulations, and court decisions for their impact on organization HR practices.

Human Resources Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a sensitive, fair and impartial approach to dealing with employees.

  • Maintains thorough documentation.

  • Uses accurate, clear and concise oral and written communication.

  • Maintains procedures and controls to promote communication and adequate information flow.

  • Participates in department performance improvement processes and activities.
  • Maintains knowledge of current state and federal employment laws.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or related field, or equivalent experience, required. Master's Degree, preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Human Resources experience, required. 7-10 years of experience, preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as an HR Generalist, Employee Relations Specialist, or comparable HR role, preferred.
  • Experience in a hospital/healthcare setting, preferred.
  • Professional Human Resources Certification, preferred.

Additional Skills:

  • Is recognized expert in areas assigned. Possesses broad knowledge about a wide range of areas. Has advanced understanding of established procedures and the ability to resolve complex issues.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of human resources function and of state and federal employment laws required.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and analyze large amounts of data to provide recommendations to senior management on process and business improvements.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively communicate ideas to coach and facilitate change at all levels.

  • Experience conducting presentations and training to large groups.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize projects, and adhere to deadlines.
  • Experience producing reports in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrates the ability to be flexible and organized.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
