What We’re Looking For:

A Structural Steel Project Manager collaborates with Engineers and Supervisors in planning, budgeting, distributing resources, and supplying prompt completion of the project. They also ensure that the project is completed within the set budget and is within the scope. Additionally, they ensure the project delivers the expected results and benefits.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure projects are delivered on-time, within budget and within the scope
  • Develop a detailed project plan in Tekla EPM to track progress
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors
  • Lead and direct the work of other project team members as needed
  • Client follow-up and retention
  • Work with sales to convert won opportunities into projects
  • Ensure all information for a project is gathered from sales
  • Reviews PO to estimate and ensures all drawings, data files, and critical requirements are in place
  • Set up projects in Tekla EPM control software
  • Create project charters and milestones
  • Hold project kickoff meetings with several departments
  • Work closely with production control to schedule production
  • Work with Supply Chain to schedule vendor material and finished good shipping
  • Develop Tekla EPM standard to better manage projects going forward

Preferred Skills, Requirements and Education:

  • Construction Management degree, or equivalent experience
  • 2 years of structural steel fabrication and construction experience a plus
  • Knowledge of all phases of the building construction process including pre-construction through closeout
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Experience in cost controls
  • Good language skills, both written and oral.
  • Working knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
  • Working Knowledge of Tekla Software preferred, but not required.
  • Familiarity with AISC fabricator requirements a plus
  • Experience working with D1.1 structural steel a plus
  • Experience reading and interpreting field and fabrication drawings a plus
  • Bluebeam: Basic understanding of creating and editing combined pdf sets
  • Previous experience reviewing and interpreting Contract Documents for necessary information (member sizes, locations, and elevations; navigating and understanding structural notes and details) preferred
  • General knowledge of constructability of structural items to be able to best understand the possible intent of the design when details or information are missing or not clear
  • General knowledge of model exports for Tekla EPM/PowerFab (IFC, KISS, XML, STEP, etc.)
