Assist in the daily operation of the Sheridan College Mailroom.

Reports To Ann Storey

Education/Qualifications

  • Adult CPR/AED and First Aid Certification
  • Good Conduct and Academic Standing with the college

  • Sheridan College Student currently enrolled

  • Cumulative GPA is 2.0 or greater

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to problem solve and work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Creative, with the ability to propose and initiate new ideas.

  • Ability to accept critical feedback and integrate suggestions into ideas.
  • Ability to prioritize activities and manage multiple tasks efficiently.

  • Basic computer skills and a familiarity with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher, and Microsoft Excel.

  • The ability to understand the importance of confidentiality and to serve as a role model for others.

  • Strong interest in helping students connect with the college and enhance their college experience.
  • Awareness of, and appreciation for, individual uniqueness and diversity.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

  • Ability to resolve conflict situations and make decisions under pressure.
  • Work independently and with others. Willingness to learn.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.
  • Majority of work will be on your feet. Extensive lifting and using sharp tools.

Job Duties

These are the job duties for required of the position.

Percentage of time 100%

Responsibility/Duty

  • Use multiple computer programs to receive, track and distribute mail to students and staff.
  • Communicate with multiple stakeholders across campus and in the community in person, via email and over the phone.
  • Sort in-coming mail
  • Process out-going mail

  • Using mailing software, determine best method for sending outgoing mail
  • Assist in tracking certified, registered, insured and other special requests.
  • Be visible and available to answer questions, telephone calls, and emails

  • Reconcile all college deliveries with purchase orders. Work closely with SC business office.
  • Basic cash handling. Reconcile cash box daily.
  • Required to attend all trainings and meetings as scheduled. Includes pre-employment training in August before school starts, professional development at least one time per month and diversity, equity and inclusion training.
  • Other duties as assigned.
