Duties
The RN provides competent care to patients in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings to include the medical unit, Mountain View Living Center, acute psychiatry, Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program and urgent care. The RN is able to practice independently with little to no direct oversight and lesser reliance on the guidance of subject matter experts and expert nursed in order to effectively plan and manage complex clinical situations.
The Float Pool RN's responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Assists patient/families with expressing their wishes as they relate to provision of care.
- Effectively prioritizes patient needs as part of managing complex patient needs.
- Manages admissions/discharges to the unit such that no delay in care is incurred.
- Follows instructions of supervisors in regards to emergency situation management and unit function.
- Manages central and peripheral IV access and medications (to include IV push medications) without direct preceptor observation.
- Documentation reflects comprehensive information for both subjective and objective
factors of clinical presentation.
- Provides patient and family education independently and documents the same.
- Collaborates with colleagues to address clinical or safety concerns for assigned patient
and/or other teams.
- Communicates with patient/family to develop plan of care tailored to patient
needs/situation.
- Demonstrates to others the process for providing a clear and comprehensive information
to physicians and others during report and patient hand-offs.
- Collaborates with others to ensure care is provided in the most efficient and safe manner.

- Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience.
- Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience.
- Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience required.
- Nurse III - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience.
Additional information

Annual leave shall accrue for full-time Nurses, and Nurse Anesthetists at the rate of 8 hours for each full biweekly pay period.

HR Office staff must verify your vaccination status prior to issuing a final offer of employment and before you report for New Employee Orientation.
